The 4 Series is BMW’s compact executive coupe, made with a sportier attitude than the more utilitarian 4-door 3 Series. Refreshed for 2018, the BMW 4 Series gains some steering and suspension enhancements for an improved ride and handling, new wheel designs, and two new exterior colors: Sunset Orange Metallic and an eye-catching Snapper Rocks Blue Metallic. Other changes for 2018 include standard bi-LED headlights in place of the old xenon ones, revised taillights, and an updated rear bumper and diffuser. LED fog lights are now standard, with optional adaptive headlights. The 4 Series remains available as a coupe, convertible, or Gran Coupe (a 4-door coupe with a liftback rear). The 4 Series effectively replaced the 2-door 3 Series, so it was only natural that it would make a highly popular volume model. Between its debut in 2014 and the end of 2016, the 4 Series has sold nearly 400,000 models.
The 2018 4 Series comes in two trims—430i and 440i—for each body style, and all models are available with either rear-wheel drive (RWD) or BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. The 430i trim gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 248 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, while the 440i receives a turbo 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine good for 320 hp and 330 lb-ft. All variants come standard with an 8-speed automatic transmission, while the coupe will make driving enthusiasts happy with an available 6-speed manual transmission.
For 2018, BMW has tweaked the 4 Series’ suspension and electric power steering, and available upgrades include an M Sport suspension and an adaptive M-branded suspension with variable damping. A performance-focused Track Handling package offers larger brakes, stickier tires, and the adaptive M suspension. More serious drivers will want to opt for the M4, but a well-optioned standard 4 Series will still be more than enough for some driving fun.
Changes to the interior of the 2018 4 Series are fairly minimal. A sports steering wheel, a glossy black plastic center console, and double stitching on the instrument panel are standard, and options include several new color schemes and wireless device charging. Additionally, the available navigation system now features a more user-friendly interface with tile-style icons.
Two-door versions of the 4 Series aren’t the most practical cars when it comes to space for rear seat passengers or cargo, and this issue is exacerbated with the convertible, which stows its folding hardtop in the trunk. With the top down, the convertible offers just 7.8 cubic feet of trunk space.
While most of the 4 Series’ appealing safety features cost extra, there are nevertheless plenty of options. A reversing camera does come standard, and available items include automatic emergency braking, a park-distance system, surround-view cameras, and blind-spot monitoring with lane-departure warning and collision-warning, and active cruise control. An optional automatic collision-notification system will contact emergency responders in the event of an accident. Additionally, the similarly constructed 3 Series received the coveted Top Safety Pick+ status from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in 2017, and we expect the 4 Series to be an equally solid choice for the safety-conscious.
A 4 Series base 430i coupe starts at a little over $42,400, while a loaded 440i convertible is closer to $60,000. The 4-door Gran Coupe, which competes against the Audi A5 and Mercedes C-Class Coupe, only costs $200 more than the equivalent 2-door.

Overall the car is joy to drive. I’m not a tall person, 5’9 and all legs. The 430ix is not comfortable for long drives. Even with the adjustable lumbar and seat extension, you can not get your left leg comfortable. It’s very responsive and fun to drive with the 4-cylinder, twin turbo.; however, it could use a little more horsepower. Overall, I rate it a 4-star for someone under 5’9 it would be perfect. If, 5’9 or taller opt for the 530ix .Jan 29, 2023

You get two cars in one. The hardtop is not being made anymore. A push of a button you go from fun luxury drive to a full open view cruise. The 430 has plenty of power to fly when you want to or when you need to pass. BMW is know for its quality. The interiors of these cars are usually always fit to trim. The 4 series is a good size between a large car and a small car. By U.S. standards, the 5-series is a large car while the 2-series would be considered a small car. The features that came on this car are outstanding and today are wanted Options that peoples from the U.S. appreciate. The car came with the Essentials Package and Premium Package. It also came with Navigation, Harman Kardon Surround Sound and 18 Double Spoke 397 rims and ALL Season tires.
One other nice feature about his car is the Parktronic. The 2.0 liter 240 HP, I4 Engine is smooth with a lot of pep. The 8-speed automatic transmission shifts very smoothly. Aug 10, 2020

BMW Void factory warranty on a 2 year old 430I
On october 19 2019 I purchased a 2018 bmw 430i convertible with 27000 miles from a dealer in QUEENS, NY. When the car was sold to me, they told me the car still has remain factory warranty for 2 years and or 23000 miles. They gave me a copy of the car fax report it is clean with clean title. Fast forward on 2-10-2010 I took the car to bayside bmw for service and the advisor said my car has no warranty? I asked her why she said there is no explanation on the her system and I would need to contact BMW manufacturer. I called 800831117 and open a case, finally on 2-13, a rep name Adrien called from Columbus office said he is an escalation specialist told me my car has no warranty because it was sold to an auction house with an unclear odometer, I asked him what that is and he said could be a tamper with meter but he does not know? I told him I need to know why my car was listed as tamper odometer when the car has a clean car fax and to my opinion impossible, new car has complex computer system and it is not possible to tamper with odometer plus even if someone would of tamper with it, would not they turn the reading to a much lesser number then 27k miles? It does not make sense and he would not able to further assist me and told me to call the dealer who sold me the car, he claim the selling dealer should have the info from the action where the auction should able to tell me why there is a tamper odometer. Anyone have a similar situation as me? All this is stressing me out, I paid $38k for this car and would not of brought it if there are no factory warranty. please help.
