How much does the 2017 Toyota Corolla cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

With 1,917 listings available, you have a fairly broad pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Toyota Corolla earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its fuel efficiency, comfort, and features, and they also highlight its reliability and ride quality. In practical terms, that makes it a sensible pick if you want a compact sedan that emphasizes everyday usability and low-stress ownership. The market also shows 31.8% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers saying they feel confident counting on it over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Corolla’s standard safety content and value proposition make it appealing for long-term use, even if the driving experience is not especially refined. Toyota also makes the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which helps reduce early ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a car this affordable can still hide wear, so condition and maintenance history matter more than the badge.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Corolla?

At 47.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or shows uneven panel gaps, tire wear, or brake issues. Focus on how the car drives, because the expert evaluation points to weak braking performance and a coarse powertrain, both of which are worth checking in person. If you’re comparing multiple listings, put the cleanest-condition car at the top of your list rather than chasing the lowest sticker price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base L trim gets a 6.1-inch touchscreen with Entune, adaptive cruise, air conditioning, a reversing camera, and Toyota Safety Sense P, while the LE adds 16-inch wheels, keyless entry, auto climate control, heated mirrors, and variable intermittent wipers. The XLE adds alloy wheels, keyless ignition and entry, pleather, heated seats, a sunroof, and a larger 7-inch display with navigation, while the SE and XSE add sport-themed styling and more equipment. The base trim is the one most likely to feel sparse if you want more convenience features.
• Powertrain: The Corolla uses a 1.8-liter engine with 132 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque paired with a CVT, and the manual transmission is available on the SE. The performance notes point to slow acceleration, a loud engine, and droning from the CVT, while the efficiency figures are 28 city and 36 highway mpg, with a combined rating of 32 mpg.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P is standard and includes auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and auto braking. The base trims also get a reversing camera, but trims below the SE come with rear drum brakes.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes a 6.1-inch touchscreen with Entune, and the XLE upgrades to a 7-inch display with Entune Audio Plus, HD and satellite radio, and navigation. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included.
• Fuel efficiency: The Corolla is rated at 28 city and 36 highway mpg, with a combined 32 mpg.

Which 2017 Toyota Corolla trim should I buy?

The 2017 Toyota Corolla is offered in 7 trim levels: L, LE, LE Eco, XLE, SE, XSE, and 50th-Anniversary Edition.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already includes Toyota Safety Sense P, a reversing camera, adaptive cruise, air conditioning, and a 6.1-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Corolla and can live without comfort upgrades.
• LE: This adds the everyday conveniences many shoppers will notice right away, including 16-inch wheels, keyless entry, auto climate control, heated mirrors, and extra interior trim. It’s the best-value trim for most buyers because it adds useful comfort without pushing the price too far.
• LE Eco: This version builds on the LE with 15-inch wheels, low-rolling-resistance tires, and tuning aimed at maximum efficiency. Choose it if your priority is squeezing out the most economy-focused setup.
• XLE: This is the most comfort-oriented mainstream trim, with alloy wheels, keyless ignition and entry, pleather, heated seats, a sunroof, and the larger 7-inch display with navigation. It suits you best if you want the Corolla to feel more upscale.
• SE: Toyota positions this as the sport-themed model, with 17-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, a sport seat and gauge cluster, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, paddle shifters with the CVT, and an optional 6-speed manual. Pick it if you want the most distinctive look and a more engaging setup.
• XSE: This adds a sunroof, keyless entry and ignition, heated seats, and a power driver’s seat on top of the SE’s equipment. It’s the right choice if you want the sportier trim with more comfort features.
• 50th-Anniversary Edition: This special edition builds off the SE and adds unique 17-inch wheels, upgraded cloth and leather upholstery with black cherry contrast stitching, and anniversary badging and trim inside and out. It’s mainly for shoppers who want the commemorative appearance package.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but the base trim still feels the most basic if you want richer convenience features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota Corolla?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,917 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 47.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,134, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota Corolla's resale value?

The current average of $13,822 sits slightly above last year's $13,702.

That small increase suggests the Corolla has held its value reasonably well rather than sliding sharply. For a future seller, that usually means you’re working with a stable pricing floor instead of a volatile market. If you keep mileage, condition, and maintenance records in good shape, you should be able to position the car competitively when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla safe?

The 2017 Toyota Corolla earns a five-star overall government safety rating and a Marginal result in the IIHS small-overlap front-impact test.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard and includes auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and auto braking. The Corolla also gets a standard reversing camera, which helps everyday visibility. A key caveat is the weak braking performance noted by the expert evaluation, along with the IIHS small-overlap result, so you should pay close attention to brake condition and prior crash history when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 47.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Toyota made Safety Sense P standard, adding auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and auto braking.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $12,910, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $13,822 average.
• It is priced to be one of the best deals in the small-car segment.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped, safety-forward version and you’re comfortable paying the current market average, the 2017 is the stronger all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2016 is the better value-oriented alternative.
