Used 2017 Toyota 4Runner for Sale nearBirmingham, AL

How much does the 2017 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 1,627 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 4.5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its reliability, ruggedness, solid construction, and long-lasting value, which fits a traditional body-on-frame SUV built for buyers who want off-road capability and family-hauling utility. The tradeoff is that some owners note it is not ideal for city driving, so it makes the most sense if you value durability and capability over a softer daily commute. With 32.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights reliability, ruggedness, solid construction, and long-lasting value, all of which support confidence in used ownership. That kind of reputation matters if you want a vehicle you can count on over time rather than one that prioritizes flashier features.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s core durability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn down by hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota 4Runner?

At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the truck has been used hard off-road or in demanding conditions. Pay close attention to overall wear, because a rugged SUV can hide more abuse than a typical commuter vehicle.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota 4Runner?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the best listings.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,627 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,718, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $26,964 sits slightly below last year's $27,229.

That small decline suggests the market has softened a bit, but not enough to signal a major drop in demand. For a future seller, that means the 4Runner still appears to hold value reasonably well, especially compared with vehicles that lose momentum more quickly. Its rugged reputation and steady buyer interest should help support pricing if your example is clean and well maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $23,887, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $26,964 average.
• It offers a strong off-road focus for buyers who prioritize capability over comfort.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of current-market pricing, owner satisfaction, and broad availability, the 2017 is the stronger default choice. If your top priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the better value path, especially if you find one with clean history and solid maintenance records.
