How much does the 2017 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 9.29% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,192 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and conditions.

Is the 2017 RAM 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2017 RAM 1500 earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its comfortable ride, powerful performance, and variety of features, and many also like the spacious interior and advanced technology. It fits well if you want a full-size pickup that feels more polished and easy to live with than many rivals. With 33.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive offer.

Is the 2017 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a truck that feels dependable in daily use, with repeated praise for its comfortable ride and strong performance. That kind of consistency matters if you want a used pickup you can count on over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific truck you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 RAM 1500?

At 65% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership patterns. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, frame, and interior condition, since those areas can reveal how the truck was treated. It also makes sense to focus on signs of heavy use, because condition can vary widely across used pickups.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 RAM 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,192 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.29% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,803, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $18,803 sits slightly below last year's $20,728.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can matter if you plan to sell later. A softer current market can limit how much value you recover in the near term, especially if your truck has average mileage or visible wear. On the other hand, a well-kept example with desirable equipment should still hold appeal because shoppers continue to respond to the model’s comfort and feature set. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.29% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $17,272, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $18,803 average.
• It leans hard into luxury with a premium, upscale feel.

The bottom line:
You should start with the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the better value-oriented alternative, especially if you like its more luxury-focused personality.
