What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Nissan Altima?

At 45.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether the car has any accident or title issues. Focus especially on overall condition and maintenance records, since those will matter most when you’re comparing similar listings.

What is the 2017 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $9,623 sits slightly below last year's $10,384.

That price movement suggests the model has softened, which can limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If you buy at the right price, though, you may reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit later. The strongest resale prospects will usually come from well-kept examples with clean histories and strong equipment appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 24.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 45.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $9,245, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $9,623 average.
• It offers a refreshed, high-value package with distinctive styling and a friendly cabin.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and availability, the 2017 is the better starting point. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the more budget-friendly alternative and still delivers the core Altima strengths.
