Used 2024 Nissan Altima for Sale nearSaint Louis, MO

How much does the 2024 Nissan Altima cost?

Prices have softened 7.13% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,784 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2024 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Nissan Altima earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

The Altima’s appeal starts with an attractive starting price and an impressive array of standard safety tech, and it stays relevant with available all-wheel drive and an upgraded touchscreen display on higher trims. It is a practical everyday choice if you want a traditional sedan that is comfortable and easy to use.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is pedestrian, material quality is unimpressive, and the Bose stereo is lacking. Even so, the model’s value-focused setup makes it a sensible pick if you prioritize familiarity and everyday usability over excitement.

37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Altima is presented as a stable, familiar sedan that has remained largely unchanged for years, which can be a plus if you want a proven formula rather than a risky redesign. Its standard equipment and straightforward cabin layout also support an ownership experience that should feel easy to live with.

The performance notes point to an adequate powertrain rather than a strained one, and the available all-wheel-drive setup adds confidence for buyers in tougher weather. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to a three-year, 36,000-mile limited warranty and a five-year limited powertrain warranty.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a well-worn example may show its age in materials and refinement before it shows major mechanical trouble.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Nissan Altima?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the cabin, electronics, brakes, and drivetrain behavior, since the Altima’s value story depends heavily on condition. Focus especially on whether the car feels well cared for, because the model’s appeal is strongest when it still feels fresh and easy to use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes S, SV, SR, and SL, with the base S missing some of the richer equipment found higher up. The cabin is described as comfortable, but the interior also feels outdated and includes some cheap plastic parts, so higher trims matter if you want a more polished experience.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder is adequate rather than exciting, while the VC-Turbo engine adds more power on the SR. If you live where winter traction matters, note that the more powerful engine is not available with AWD.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking including pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning. The SL and SR VC-Turbo also add a 360-degree surround-view monitor and traffic-sign recognition.
• Infotainment: Most trims use an 8-inch touchscreen, while the base S gets a 7-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available only with the largest screen, and NissanConnect comes standard on the SL and SR VC-Turbo.
• Fuel efficiency: The AWD setup is described as returning 26 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined. The VC-Turbo with FWD returns 25 mpg city, 34 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined.

Which 2024 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2024 Nissan Altima is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SR, and SL.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it makes the Altima’s value case easiest to access. It is the trim to consider if you want the lowest-cost path into the model and can live without the nicer tech and convenience upgrades found higher up.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds useful everyday flexibility, including the ability to get AWD and add ProPilot Assist. If you want a balanced mix of price, comfort, and available tech, this is the trim to target first.
• SR: This trim is the one to look at if you want the more powerful VC-Turbo engine and a sportier setup. It also can be equipped with AWD, but the turbo engine itself is not available with AWD.
• SL: This is the most feature-rich mainstream trim, with the 12.3-inch display, NissanConnect, ProPilot Assist, and the surround-view monitor. It suits you best if you want the most technology and convenience in the lineup.

The SL and SR VC-Turbo also include the extra safety and convenience features tied to the larger-screen setup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Nissan Altima?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile deals.

• Deal availability: 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,784 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.13% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,774, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $19,793 sits slightly below last year's $21,313.

That decline suggests the Altima is currently in a softer pricing environment, which can help you buy more car for the money today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice rather than on broad market momentum alone.

Because the model is still positioned as a value-focused sedan, a clean, well-equipped example should be easier to move than a rough one. If you buy smart now, you may be able to preserve more of that value when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Nissan Altima safe?

The 2024 Nissan Altima earns five-star overall ratings from NHTSA, though it also earns four-star ratings in the overall frontal crash test and driver-side barrier crash test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking including pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning. The SL and SR VC-Turbo trims also add a 360-degree surround-view monitor and traffic-sign recognition.

The main caveat is that the 2024 model did not receive the same IIHS recognition as the prior model year because of poor performance in the updated side-impact test.

Should I buy a 2024 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It remains a value-focused sedan with available AWD and standard safety tech.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $20,324, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $19,793 average.
• It emphasizes comfort, easy-to-use tech, and strong fuel economy.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $20,799, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $19,793 average.
• It adds the SV Special Edition Package to help refresh the lineup.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price and availability, the 2024 is the primary path to consider. If you’re shopping strictly on budget, a clean lower-trim example is the smarter move; if you want the newest updates, compare the 2025 carefully before paying more.
