Yes — the 2017 Nissan Altima earns a 4.9/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Is the 2017 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback repeatedly points to reliability, and it also describes the car as dependable and trouble-free in everyday use. That matters if you want a used sedan you can count on for commuting and routine ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a poorly maintained example, so condition and service history should carry real weight.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Nissan Altima?

At 46.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially for body condition, panel alignment, and signs of uneven wear. Focus on overall maintenance quality and how the car presents in person, since a careful inspection can help you avoid costly surprises.

What is the 2017 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $9,619 sits slightly below last year's $10,457.

That price movement suggests the model has softened, which can work against you if you're planning to sell in the near term. If you buy now, you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. A clean, well-kept example should be easier to move later than one with accident history or visible wear.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 46.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $9,205, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $9,619 average.
• It offers a refreshed design with strong value and a comfortable cabin.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and available inventory. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2016 is the better value play, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
