Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS a good car?

Yes — the 4.6/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its power, comfort, and engineering quality, and the review summary also highlights its smooth performance and stylish design. For you, that means this GLS fits especially well if you want a large three-row luxury SUV with a premium feel and family-friendly practicality. With 33.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to engineering quality and a trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, alongside the model’s strong comfort and performance reputation. That said, as a used luxury SUV, your long-term ownership risk is still tied to maintenance history, so a well-documented service record matters a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

At 63.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of inconsistent wear, since those can reveal how the SUV was treated over time. It also makes sense to focus on overall maintenance records and interior condition, because a luxury SUV like this can be expensive to refresh if it has been neglected.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what you want.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 681 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.79% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,726, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS's resale value?

The current average of $17,726 sits slightly below last year's $19,435.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. For you, the key takeaway is that buying at today’s lower average price may reduce the amount of value left to lose compared with a year ago. Well-kept examples should still be easier to move than neglected ones, especially when buyers see strong owner satisfaction behind the nameplate.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price and owner satisfaction, the 2017 is the primary path to consider. If you are especially price-sensitive, keep comparing nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the lowest sticker price.
