How much does the 2017 Lexus IS cost?

Prices have softened 3.75% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 566 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2017 Lexus IS a good car?

Yes — 4.5/5 is a strong user rating for the 2017 Lexus IS. The overview points to a compact luxury sports sedan that emphasizes driving feel, sharp styling, and a driver-focused cabin, while still offering premium equipment and standard Lexus Safety System+ features. It also suits you best if you want a sporty luxury sedan and can live with a tight back seat and limited family practicality. 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Lexus IS reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview also frames the 2017 Lexus IS as a premium compact sedan with a strong emphasis on driving feel and a well-equipped cabin, which can make it appealing if you want a car that feels substantial without moving up to a larger luxury sedan. Standard safety equipment and the model’s focus on driver-oriented design add to its appeal for used buyers. For long-term ownership, your main risk is less about the car’s character and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by age or neglect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Lexus IS?

At 42.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any car you’re seriously considering and confirm whether the body structure, airbags, and repair records check out. Put inspection priority on signs of prior collision repair, uneven panel gaps, paint mismatch, and any suspension or steering issues that could affect the car’s sporty feel. Because this model is meant to feel premium and driver-focused, condition matters a lot more than simply finding the lowest price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Lexus IS?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 566 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.75% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 42.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,095, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Lexus IS's resale value?

The current average of $20,302 sits slightly below last year's $21,093.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more carefully now but may also mean future resale gains are limited unless you choose a particularly clean example. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter a lot, especially in a segment where shoppers compare many similar listings. A well-kept car with strong equipment and a clean history should be easier to move than one with visible wear or prior damage.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 42.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, equipment, and buyer appeal, the 2017 is a sensible target because it combines a softer market with a strong user rating and a well-equipped luxury-sedan formula. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the cheapest listing.
