How much does the 2017 Lexus IS cost?

Is the 2017 Lexus IS a good car?

Yes — 4.5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and the 2017 Lexus IS backs that up with a compact luxury sports-sedan formula that emphasizes driving feel and premium equipment. It also comes with revised front and rear styling, a larger infotainment system, a redesigned center console, and Lexus Safety System+ standard, so you get a well-equipped package for the class. The cabin is driver-focused, but the back seat is really tight, so it fits you best if you value style and engagement more than family-friendly space. There are 34.0% of listings priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Lexus IS reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2017 Lexus IS is presented as a premium compact sedan with a strong emphasis on driving feel and a solid equipment list, which supports its appeal as a used buy. Standard Lexus Safety System+ also adds useful everyday protection, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is finding a well-kept example, since condition and maintenance history matter more when you’re shopping a sporty luxury sedan.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Lexus IS?

At 42% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, panel alignment, interior wear, and signs of uneven use. Because this model is known for a tight rear seat and a driver-focused layout, make sure the specific car’s condition matches how you plan to use it.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Lexus IS?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 553 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.97% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 42.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,094, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Lexus IS's resale value?

The current average of $20,386 sits slightly below last year's $21,228.

That softer pricing suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make it harder for a future seller to command a premium unless the car is especially clean and well maintained. If you buy carefully now, you may be able to protect more of your value later by choosing a well-documented example with strong condition and desirable equipment. A lower entry price can also help offset some depreciation pressure if you plan to keep the car for several years.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 42% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.97% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want the updated styling, standard Lexus Safety System+, and a used price that has eased from last year. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may still make sense, but the 2017 is the better pick when you want a well-equipped compact luxury sedan with strong appeal and a more favorable current market position.
