Is the 2017 Lexus ES a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Lexus ES earns a 5/5 user rating, and that lines up with the model’s comfort-first appeal. Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, luxurious interior, and reliability, with comfort and build quality standing out as recurring strengths. For you, that means this is a strong fit if you want a quiet, well-equipped luxury sedan that prioritizes easy daily driving over sporty handling. Is the 2017 Lexus ES reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to reliability, comfort, and build quality as major strengths, with drivers describing the car as dependable and trouble-free in everyday use. That kind of owner confidence matters if you want a used luxury sedan you can count on for the long haul. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the car’s reputation and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t accumulated hidden wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Lexus ES?

At 49.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with past damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially for bodywork, alignment, and signs of uneven wear that can hint at prior repairs. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, because a well-kept example is more likely to deliver the comfort and reliability this model is known for.

That modest increase suggests the market still values this model year’s comfort, reputation, and everyday livability. Demand tends to hold up better when a model has a reputation for satisfaction and low-stress ownership.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Lexus ES or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.05% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $19,634, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $21,926 average.
• It emphasizes comfort and quiet, with easy-to-use tech and a relaxed driving character.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall market signal and are comfortable paying more for the 2017’s current pricing and owner satisfaction, it’s the better primary choice. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2016 is the smarter secondary path, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
