Is the 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty reliable?

Owner feedback highlights dependable power, rugged performance, and confidence in its towing ability, which are all encouraging signs for used-truck shoppers. The same feedback also suggests the truck’s appeal holds up over time because buyers value its work-ready nature and comfort. For long-term ownership, you should still pay close attention to maintenance history and suspension condition so you can reduce the risk of expensive surprises.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty?

At 68.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership history before you get too far into the process. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the suspension, steering, brakes, and any signs of heavy towing or hard use, since those areas matter most on a truck like this. It also helps to focus on overall condition inside and out, because a well-kept example is more likely to deliver the ownership experience you want.

The current average of $38,460 sits slightly below last year's $40,519.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more carefully now but may also mean slower appreciation if you plan to sell later. If you keep the truck in strong condition and maintain it well, you should be in a better position to protect value. Trucks with broad buyer appeal and strong owner satisfaction tend to stay easier to resell, especially when they have the capability and equipment shoppers want.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.08% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the better choice if you want a well-liked heavy-duty truck with strong owner satisfaction, a softer price trend, and enough inventory to shop carefully. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 remains a compelling pick when you want capability and a more modern feel in the same package.
