How much does the 2017 Ford Edge cost?

Prices have softened 8.07% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,879 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Ford Edge a good car?

Generally — the 2017 Ford Edge earns a 4.43/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its powerful performance, spacious interior, and comfort, and many also like the well-appointed features and smooth ride. The Edge’s family-friendly layout, ample cargo room, and manageable size make it a practical fit if you want a crossover that is easy to live with rather than oversized or flashy.

With a 31.8% good-or-great-deal share, the market still offers some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Ford Edge reliable?

Owners rate it 4.43/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle many owners found reliable, dependable, and trouble-free over time, even with some early mechanical complaints. The expert drive notes a composed, responsive ride, and the transmission is described as a good fit with well-timed shifts. The base model also benefits from auto start-stop technology in its most efficient configuration.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some listings may have prior mechanical or maintenance history, so condition and service records matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Ford Edge?

At 69% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a lower asking price. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the interior electronics and safety features work as expected. If you want the best ownership experience, pay close attention to how the vehicle drives, brakes, and shifts during a test drive.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Edge SE comes with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, a 4.2-inch LCD screen, cloth seats, and a reversing camera, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience features. The SEL adds available heated power seats, dual-zone climate control, Sync 3, navigation, remote start, a hands-free liftgate, and blind-spot warning with cross-traffic alert. The Titanium adds leather-trimmed heated seats, driver’s-seat memory, a 12-speaker Sony audio system, and more available tech, making it the best-value trim if you want a more upscale daily driver.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder EcoBoost with 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque, an available 3.5-liter 6-cylinder with 280 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque on SEL and Titanium, and a 2.7-liter 6-cylinder EcoBoost with 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque on the Sport. The base FWD setup with auto start-stop delivers the best fuel economy in the lineup.
• Safety package: Available features include lane-keep assist, a 180-degree front camera with washer, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, and forward-collision warning. These features are more common on higher trims, so base-model shoppers should expect fewer driver-assistance extras.
• Infotainment: The base system uses Sync with a 4.2-inch color LCD screen and a single USB port. Sync 3 brings an 8-inch touchscreen, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, and it’s a major usability upgrade.
• Fuel efficiency: The Edge Sport is EPA-estimated at 17 mpg city/24 highway, while the base engine in SE with FWD is EPA-estimated at 21 mpg city/29 highway.

Which 2017 Ford Edge trim should I buy?

The 2017 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, Sport.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Edge experience at the lowest price. You get the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, a reversing camera, and the basic Sync system, but you give up a lot of the convenience and tech upgrades found higher up the range.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the most meaningful comfort and convenience upgrades without jumping all the way to the top. You can get the available V6, Sync 3, navigation, remote start, blind-spot warning, and a hands-free liftgate.
• Titanium: Choose this if you want a more premium-feeling Edge. It adds leather-trimmed heated seats, memory settings, a stronger audio system, and more upscale standard equipment.
• Sport: This is the performance-focused choice, with the 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine, standard AWD, adaptive steering, a sport-tuned suspension, and 20-inch wheels. It makes sense if driving enjoyment matters more to you than fuel economy.

For safety-minded shoppers, note that the more advanced driver-assistance features are concentrated in higher trims rather than the base model.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Ford Edge?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,879 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.07% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,118, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Ford Edge's resale value?

The current average of $12,118 sits slightly below last year's $13,183.

That softer pricing suggests the Edge has already absorbed some of its depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you choose a well-kept example with strong equipment and a clean history, you may have a better chance of holding value than with a rougher, higher-mileage listing. The market still appears active enough that a clean, fairly priced Edge should remain appealing to used buyers.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.43/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Ford Edge safe?

The 2017 Ford Edge earns an overall five-star rating from NHTSA, with a four-star rating for rollover resistance. The IIHS rates it Good in all crash tests except small front overlap, where it receives an Acceptable rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Edge offers available lane-keep assist, a 180-degree front camera with washer, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, and forward-collision warning. Those features are not standard across the lineup, so you’ll want to check carefully if you’re comparing base and higher trims. The lack of front crash-mitigation technology also keeps it from Top Safety Pick+ consideration.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford Edge or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.43/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 Edge is a practical, family-friendly crossover with a manageable size and useful cargo space.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $11,089, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $12,118 average.
• It emphasizes a performance-focused Edge Sport identity with a standard twin-turbocharged V6.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall market balance, the 2017 is the better primary target because pricing has eased and inventory is healthy. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2016 is the better price-sensitive alternative, especially if you’re drawn to its performance-oriented character.
