How much does the 2017 Ford Edge cost?

Prices have softened 8.60% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,869 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Ford Edge a good car?

Generally — the 2017 Ford Edge earns a 4.43/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating, which points to a strong overall showing for shoppers. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Safety.

You get a practical, family-first crossover with seating for five, ample cargo room, and lots of storage cubbies. Reviewers also consistently praise its spacious interior, comfort, smooth ride, and well-appointed features. That makes it a good fit if you want a manageable-size SUV that works well for daily family duty rather than flashy styling.

31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2017 Ford Edge reliable?

Owners rate it 4.43/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle many drivers found reliable, dependable, and trouble-free over time, even though some early mechanical problems and engine issues were mentioned. The expert evaluation also describes the Edge as composed and responsive, with a good fit between the transmission and engine, which supports confidence in everyday use. The cost-effectiveness assessment adds that the model’s middle-ground approach can make it a solid ownership choice.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some examples may have had mechanical or engine-related issues, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Ford Edge?

At 68.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually strong. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle’s equipment and safety features work as expected. Because higher trims add more desirable technology and safety equipment, make sure the specific example you’re considering actually has the features you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Edge SE comes with cloth seats, a 4.2-inch LCD screen, Ford Sync, and a reversing camera, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience features. The SEL brings available heated power seats, dual-zone climate control, Sync 3, navigation, blind-spot warning with cross-traffic alert, and a hands-free liftgate, while the Titanium adds leather-trimmed heated seats, driver’s-seat memory, Sync 3, and a 12-speaker Sony audio system. The Sport stands apart with a 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine, adaptive steering, a sport-tuned suspension, and 20-inch wheels.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque, an available 3.5-liter V6 with 280 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque, and a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque in the Sport. The base FWD setup with auto start-stop delivers the best fuel economy at an EPA-estimated 21 mpg city/29 highway, while the Sport returns an EPA-estimated 17 mpg city/24 highway.
• Safety package: The Edge includes multiple airbags and a reversing camera, while available driver-assistance features include lane-keep assist, a 180-degree front camera with washer, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, and forward-collision warning. These features are not all standard on the base model, so check the exact trim and option content carefully.
• Infotainment: Base models use a 4.2-inch color LCD screen with Sync, voice recognition, AM/FM, a single CD player, and one USB port. Sync 3 upgrades to an 8-inch touchscreen with two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and available navigation, plus optional premium audio systems.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sport is EPA-estimated at 17 mpg city/24 highway, and the best economy comes from the base engine with FWD at 21 mpg city/29 highway.

Which 2017 Ford Edge trim should I buy?

The 2017 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, Sport.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the essentials: the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, a 6-speed automatic, cloth seating, a reversing camera, and basic Sync infotainment. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without the nicer tech and comfort upgrades.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a lot of everyday usefulness, including available heated power seats, dual-zone climate control, Sync 3, navigation, blind-spot warning with cross-traffic alert, remote start, and a hands-free liftgate. If you want the sweet spot between price and features, this is the one to target.
• Titanium: This trim leans into comfort and convenience with standard leather-trimmed heated seats, driver’s-seat memory, Sync 3, two USB ports, and a 12-speaker Sony audio system. Choose it if you want a more upscale cabin and are willing to pay more for it.
• Sport: This is the performance-focused choice, with the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, adaptive steering, a sport-tuned suspension, and standard AWD. It suits you best if driving enjoyment matters more than fuel economy.

The safety content notes that higher trim levels are needed to get many of the Edge’s more advanced safety features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Ford Edge?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with some room to find value if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,869 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.60% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,000, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Ford Edge's resale value?

The current average of $12,000 sits slightly below last year's $13,129.

That price movement suggests the Edge has softened enough to be more appealing to used buyers today, but it also means a future seller may face a more competitive market if values continue to drift. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s higher level. The model’s broad family appeal and practical layout should help support demand, but resale will still depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.43/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Ford Edge safe?

The 2017 Ford Edge earns an overall five-star rating from NHTSA, with a four-star rating for rollover resistance. The IIHS gave it a Good rating in all crash tests except small front overlap, where it received an Acceptable rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Edge offers multiple airbags and available driver-assistance features such as lane-keep assist, a 180-degree front camera with washer, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, and forward-collision warning. However, there is no front crash-mitigation technology, so it is not eligible for the Top Safety Pick+ rating. Many of the more advanced safety features are also reserved for higher trims rather than the base model.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford Edge or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.43/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 Edge emphasizes a practical, family-first layout with roomy seating, useful storage, and a manageable size.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $10,841, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $12,000 average.
• It pairs a family-friendly shape with a twin-turbocharged V6 for stronger performance.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced buy, the 2017 is the stronger all-around choice because it combines a lower current average price, solid owner satisfaction, and broad family usefulness. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2016 is the better value play, especially if you want its more performance-minded character.
