Why it stands out
The 2017 Dodge Durango offers a compelling combination of power, versatility, and usability, appealing to families and individuals alike. Its robust V8 engine option generates impressive towing capabilities, reaching up to 7,400 pounds, while still providing a smooth driving experience that feels more like a crossover than a traditional SUV. Despite its rugged exterior and functional interior, the Durango doesn't compromise on comfort; it features a spacious cabin with options for up to seven passengers, appealing materials, and a well-organized layout. Many owners appreciate the comprehensive infotainment system, which, while lacking Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, is intuitive and easy to navigate. However, potential buyers should note that safety ratings can be a concern, with some crash tests revealing vulnerabilities. Overall, the Durango’s combination of ample space, powerful performance, and varied trim options makes it a practical choice for those needing a capable family vehicle.

It’s a great vehicle. I love the looks. I love the tow capacity: I love the features and room. The 3.6/8 speed is a great combo. But… the small offset crash rating is a disaster. And as a dad of teens it made me cross it off my list. Why hasn’t dodge addresses this? Even mitigated it?
