Used 2017 Chevrolet Trax for Sale nearNew York, NY

How much does the 2017 Chevrolet Trax cost?

Prices have softened 9.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,078 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Chevrolet Trax earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 6.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise its great gas mileage, compact size, and practical everyday usability, and they also like its features and handling. That lines up with the Trax’s use case as a small crossover that’s easy to live with, especially if you want something city-friendly with added convenience and modern connectivity. Good and great deals account for 31.3% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience centered on good gas mileage, compact practicality, and features that make the Trax easy to count on day to day. The expert evaluation also emphasizes its easy-driving nature and everyday utility, with standard connectivity and a simple, approachable layout. Chevrolet also notes that the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some examples may have seen harder use, so condition and maintenance history matter more than mileage alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Trax?

At 59.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and any signs of prior repair. It’s also smart to focus on how the car drives and whether the cabin equipment works as expected, since the Trax’s appeal depends heavily on everyday usability and features. If you’re comparing multiple listings, put the cleanest example with the best maintenance record near the top of your list.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LS trim loses the under-seat storage found on higher versions, and it also misses the projector headlights and LED lighting upgrades that appear on the upper trims. The LT adds alloy wheels, projector headlights with LED running and tail lights, cruise control, remote start, heated mirrors, satellite radio, roof rails, upgraded cloth, a 110-volt outlet, and aesthetic upgrades, while the Premier adds 18-inch alloys, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, full vinyl upholstery, and heated front seats.
• Powertrain: Every Trax uses a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder with 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed transmission. The engine can feel strained during highway passing or hill climbing, and the expert evaluation notes that the Trax struggles to deliver its stated 25 mpg city and 33 mpg highway in normal daily use.
• Safety package: The Driver Confidence package adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and parking sensors. The Driver Confidence II package adds forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning. The LS cannot be outfitted with these systems, the LT can get everything except the forward-collision and lane-departure warning systems, and the Premier makes those features available only as an extra-cost package.
• Infotainment: Every Trax gets a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an extra standard USB port. The system does not include built-in navigation beyond OnStar, and the upgraded Bose stereo is the better choice if you want stronger audio quality.
• Fuel efficiency: The Trax is rated at 25 mpg city and 33 mpg highway, with 28 mpg combined noted in expert testing.

Which 2017 Chevrolet Trax trim should I buy?

The 2017 Chevrolet Trax is offered in 3 trim levels: LS, LT, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the least expensive way into the Trax, and it still brings a 7-inch touchscreen, 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a rear-view camera, automatic headlights, and a tilt-and-telescoping steering column. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the extra comfort and safety equipment.
• LT: This is the best-value trim because it adds alloy wheels, projector headlights with LED running and tail lights, cruise control, remote start, heated mirrors, satellite radio, roof rails, upgraded cloth, and a 110-volt outlet. It’s the trim to target if you want the Trax’s core convenience upgrades without stretching to the top model.
• Premier: This trim adds 18-inch alloys, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, full vinyl upholstery, and heated front seats. It suits you if you want the most comfort and appearance upgrades, but the ride and tire setup are less forgiving than the lower trims.

The Driver Confidence package is available on the LT, while the Premier can add Driver Confidence II for forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chevrolet Trax?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,078 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,980, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

The current average of $8,994 sits slightly below last year's $9,942.

That softer pricing suggests the Trax has already absorbed some of its depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stays steady. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in clean condition, you may have a better chance of limiting further value loss than if you pay near the top of the range today. The model’s broad appeal as a practical, easy-to-drive crossover should help support demand, especially for well-kept examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Trax safe?

The 2017 Chevrolet Trax has been awarded top marks from both the government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the independent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The available safety suite includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and forward-collision warning, with lane-departure warning also available on the Premier through Driver Confidence II. The LS has none of these features and cannot be equipped with them, while the LT can get everything except forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning. That means safety equipment varies meaningfully by trim, so you should pay close attention to the exact listing you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert testing highlights the refreshed styling, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an extra USB port, and newly available safety features.

The bottom line: The 2017 Trax makes the most sense if you want a small, easy-to-drive crossover with modern tech and a lower used price than many rivals. If you’re especially price-sensitive, it’s worth focusing on the best-maintained examples and the LT trim, since that’s where the value story is strongest.
