How much does the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro cost?

Prices are up 1.71% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,193 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its stunning looks, impressive power, thrilling performance, fast acceleration, and handling. The Camaro also fits buyers who want a sporty, attention-getting car with modern tech, though the tight cabin and limited cargo space make it less appealing if you need everyday practicality.

With 32.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car people feel good about living with over time, especially when it comes to performance and overall enjoyment. The expert drive notes also frame it as a car built for serious driving confidence, with a setup that rewards committed use.

The Camaro’s track-focused character and tight packaging mean long-term ownership is best for buyers who can live with its compromises.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Camaro?

At 55.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because the Camaro’s cabin and visibility are already part of its tradeoff, condition matters even more when you’re comparing similar listings. Focus on how the car was maintained, how it drives, and whether any damage history lines up with the asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Camaro SS 1LE adds a matte-finish hood, black exterior accents, Satin Graphite wheels, and a more aggressive appearance than the standard car. It also improves outward visibility with the hood design, while the base setup is more restrained and less visually dramatic.
• Powertrain: The 1LE package is available with a V6-equipped LS or LT, a V8-equipped SS, and it brings a manual-transmission-only setup. The performance tuning includes magnetic ride control, upgraded cooling, staggered-width Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires, and Brembo brakes.
• Safety package: Teen Driver is the named safety feature, and it lets you set vehicle attributes tied to a key fob and review a driving report afterward. Standard equipment includes a reversing camera, while blind-spot warning with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking-assist sensors are optional.
• Infotainment: The Camaro uses an 8-inch touchscreen with MyLink, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also includes OnStar services, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, automatic crash response, crisis assist, stolen-vehicle assistance, and a Performance Data Recorder.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1LE package is described as returning 20 mpg in combined driving, while the test vehicle averaged 18.6 mpg on one loop and 16.5 mpg over a week.

Which 2017 Chevrolet Camaro trim should I buy?

The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro is offered in 1 trim level: LS.

Here's the short version:

LS: This is the trim to target if you want the Camaro’s core style and performance at the lowest entry point. It’s the best-value starting place for shoppers who care more about the Camaro experience than about loading up on extras.

The safety package centers on Teen Driver, with a reversing camera standard and additional driver-assistance features available as options.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chevrolet Camaro?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,193 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.71% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 55.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,940, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro's resale value?

The current average of $23,597 sits slightly above last year's $23,199.

That modest increase suggests the Camaro has held value reasonably well for a used performance car. If demand stays steady, sellers should continue to benefit from the model’s strong enthusiast appeal and recognizable styling.

Because the price trend is positive, a well-kept example should remain easier to move than a neglected one. Listings with clean history and strong presentation are likely to draw the most attention.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro safe?

The Camaro earns a five-star overall rating from the federal government, but it gets dinged for Acceptable roof strength in IIHS testing.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Teen Driver is the named safety system, and it lets you assign settings to a key fob and review a report on how the car was driven. A reversing camera is standard, while blind-spot warning with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking-assist sensors are optional.

The main caveat is that it does not include automatic emergency braking or automatic steering assistance, so you should not expect advanced crash-avoidance tech here.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.71% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 adds Teen Driver and modern infotainment features that help it feel more current.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $21,801, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $23,597 average.
• The 2016 is a newly redesigned Camaro with a more modern feel inside and out.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around used-market balance, the 2017 is the better target. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable giving up some of the newer-year appeal, the 2016 can still make sense.

How does the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro compare to the 2017 Ford Mustang?

Our experts score the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 8.2/10 and the 2017 Ford Mustang 7.8/10. The Camaro brings the stronger expert score and a better deal share, while the Mustang is cheaper on average and has more listings to choose from. If you want the sharper enthusiast pick, the Camaro has the edge; if you want a lower entry price and broader inventory, the Mustang is easier to shop.
