How much does the 2017 Buick LaCrosse cost?

Is the 2017 Buick LaCrosse a good car?

Generally — 4.4/5 from owners and 8/10 from expert testing point to a strong overall showing. The model is especially appealing if you want a spacious sedan with a classy design, a smooth ride, and a comfortable, upscale feel. It also stands out as a redesigned full-size sedan that aims to reach beyond Buick’s traditional audience, which helps explain its broader appeal. The market still shows 26.8% good or great deals, so you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Buick LaCrosse reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners also repeatedly praise its comfort, spaciousness, classy design, smooth ride, and advanced features, while the review summary points to a generally dependable ownership experience. The expert evaluation describes the car as structurally rock solid, which reinforces the sense that it is built to go the distance. Buick also emphasizes a refined, well-integrated driving experience, and the available maintenance perk helps reduce early ownership friction. Even so, you should pay close attention to electronic-system complaints and paint quality concerns, since those are the kinds of issues that can become expensive or annoying over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Buick LaCrosse?

At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, paint, and electronic functions. Because some owners mention temperature-gauge issues and error messages, it makes sense to test every display, warning light, and convenience feature before you buy. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, especially if you are comparing similarly priced cars.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base, Preferred, Essence, and Premium trims are offered, and the lower trims give up some of the more desirable convenience and driver-assistance equipment. The Premium trim is the most fully equipped, while the base version is the one most likely to leave you wanting more.
• Powertrain: The LaCrosse uses a 3.6-liter V6 with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel drive available. The setup is tuned for smooth, refined power delivery rather than economy-first driving.
• Safety package: Available driver-assistance equipment includes full-speed-range adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure prevention, blind-spot warning, a safety-alert seat, a rear-seat reminder, Teen Driver technology, and OnStar services. Some of this equipment is not standard on every trim, so verify exactly what the car you are considering includes.
• Infotainment: Buick’s IntelliLink system includes a responsive touchscreen, logical menus, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and robust subscription services. Available extras include a Bose audio system, a head-up display, wireless charging, and automatic parking-assist technology.
• Fuel efficiency: The test car averaged 23.2 mpg on an evaluation loop, and the EPA figure cited for that front-wheel-drive test car was 25 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2017 Buick LaCrosse trim should I buy?

The 2017 Buick LaCrosse is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, Preferred, Essence, and Premium.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the entry point, but it is also the trim most likely to feel stripped down compared with the others. If you want the LaCrosse experience at the lowest price, this is where you start, but you should expect to give up some of the nicer comfort and driver-assistance equipment.
• Preferred: This is the sensible step up if you want a better balance of equipment and value. It should give you a more satisfying ownership experience than the base trim without pushing you all the way to the top of the range.
• Essence: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it sits in the middle of the lineup and should deliver the strongest mix of comfort, features, and price. If you want the trim most likely to make the LaCrosse feel properly upscale without overspending, start here.
• Premium: This is the fully loaded choice, and it is the one to target if you want the most advanced comfort, technology, and driver-assistance content. It is the best fit if you care more about getting the richest feature set than about minimizing purchase price.

Safety-package equipment is available across the lineup, but the most advanced driver-assistance features are tied to higher-spec builds, so confirm the exact equipment list before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Buick LaCrosse?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 302 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.21% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,102, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Buick LaCrosse's resale value?

The current average of $15,102 sits slightly below last year's $15,765.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become more approachable for used buyers, which can help keep demand steady if you decide to sell later. Because the market has already adjusted downward, your future resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than neglected cars with visible wear or unresolved issues.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Buick LaCrosse safe?

The LaCrosse earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings for front passenger protection in a frontal-impact collision and driver protection in a side-impact collision, and five-star ratings in the other NHTSA tests. It also receives top ratings in the moderate overlap frontal impact test and the side impact test from IIHS, along with a Basic rating for crash avoidance and mitigation.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The available driver-assistance suite includes full-speed-range adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure prevention, blind-spot warning, a safety-alert seat, a rear-seat reminder, Teen Driver technology, and OnStar services. Some of these features are tied to higher equipment levels, so you should verify the exact safety content on any used example you are considering. The Basic IIHS crash-avoidance result is the main caveat to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2017 Buick LaCrosse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Expert testing highlights a redesigned full-size sedan with a premium, modern image, strong comfort, and advanced features.

The bottom line: If you want the most appealing mix of comfort, upscale feel, and current market value, the 2017 is the one to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare it with other years that could offer a lower entry price, but the 2017 remains a strong choice when you want a roomy, well-equipped sedan with broad appeal.
