How much does the 2017 Buick LaCrosse cost?

Prices have softened 4.75% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 317 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2017 Buick LaCrosse a good car?

Generally — 4.38/5 from owners and 8.00/10 from experts point to a strong overall showing for the 2017 Buick LaCrosse. The model’s appeal centers on its spaciousness, classy design, smooth ride, comfort, and advanced features, and it is framed as a full-size sedan that aims to feel more upscale and broadly appealing than Buick’s older image. That makes it a good fit if you want a comfortable, premium-leaning sedan rather than something sporty or flashy. 27.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Buick LaCrosse reliable?

Owners rate it 4.38/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with repeated praise for comfort, spaciousness, and a smooth ride that owners can count on. The expert evaluation also describes the car as structurally rock solid, which supports the sense that the redesigned model is built to hold up well over time. Buick’s maintenance-friendly ownership pitch is reinforced by the car’s broad equipment coverage and premium positioning, though the reported electronic-system concerns and paint-quality complaints mean you should still pay close attention to condition on a used example. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that small electrical or finish issues could become annoying ownership costs if the car was not cared for carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Buick LaCrosse?

At 61.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report so you can separate clean cars from those with collision records or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on bodywork quality, panel alignment, paint condition, and any signs of electrical glitches or warning messages. Because this model is positioned as a premium sedan, you should also pay close attention to how well the cabin, electronics, and ride quality have held up.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Buick offers the LaCrosse in Base, Preferred, Essence, and Premium trims, and the Base trim gives up automatic emergency braking capability when compared with better-equipped versions. The higher trims add more comfort and convenience equipment, and the Premium trim is the most fully loaded example described.
• Powertrain: The car uses a 3.6-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 282 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available.
• Safety package: The car can be fitted with a driver-assistance suite that includes full-speed-range adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure prevention, blind-spot information warning, a safety-alert seat, a rear-seat reminder, Teen Driver technology, and OnStar services. The Base trim can be missing automatic emergency braking capability.
• Infotainment: Buick’s IntelliLink system includes a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a responsive touchscreen, and logical menus. The system also supports subscription services, and available extras include a Bose Centerpoint audio system, a head-up display, wireless charging, and automatic parking-assist technology.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive test car was rated at 25 mpg in combined driving by the EPA, and it averaged 23.2 mpg on the evaluation loop.

Which 2017 Buick LaCrosse trim should I buy?

The 2017 Buick LaCrosse is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, Preferred, Essence, and Premium.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the entry point, but you should be aware that it can give up automatic emergency braking capability when compared with better-equipped versions. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting point and are comfortable with fewer safety and convenience features.
• Preferred: This is the first step up if you want a more balanced ownership experience without jumping all the way to the top trim. It should be the trim to compare carefully if you want better equipment without paying for every luxury feature.
• Essence: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it sits in the middle of the lineup and should give you a stronger mix of comfort, convenience, and premium feel than the lower trims.
• Premium: This is the trim to buy if you want the most complete version of the car, including the richest feature content and the upscale feel that best matches the LaCrosse’s mission.

The safety content also notes that the car can be fitted with a long list of driver-assistance and collision-avoidance technologies, so trim choice matters if you want the fullest safety equipment set.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Buick LaCrosse?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 27.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 317 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.75% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,197, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Buick LaCrosse's resale value?

The current average of $15,204 sits slightly below last year's $15,963.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you purchase near the lower end of the range, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it comes time to sell. The LaCrosse’s premium image and strong owner satisfaction can also help support demand among shoppers who want a comfortable, upscale sedan rather than a crossover.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Buick LaCrosse safe?

The 2017 Buick LaCrosse earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings for front passenger protection in a frontal-impact collision and driver protection in a side-impact collision.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The LaCrosse’s driver-assistance suite includes full-speed-range adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure prevention, blind-spot information warning, a safety-alert seat, a rear-seat reminder, Teen Driver technology, and OnStar services. One caveat is that the lane-departure prevention system can react awkwardly in narrowing lanes, so you should test it carefully during a drive. The Base trim can also miss automatic emergency braking capability, so safety equipment varies by trim.

Should I buy a 2017 Buick LaCrosse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 27.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The redesigned 2017 LaCrosse is presented as a clear example of Buick’s move toward a more modern, premium image.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern-feeling version of this generation’s LaCrosse, the 2017 is the one to focus on. It gives you the redesigned look, strong comfort, and a well-rounded feature set, while the softer pricing makes it easier to shop carefully. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can still compare nearby years, but the 2017 is the better pick when you want the newer design and a more upscale overall impression.
