How much does the 2017 BMW X5 cost?

There are 1,327 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 BMW X5 a good car?

Generally — the 4.47/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its outstanding performance, luxurious interior, and practicality, and many also highlight its powerful engine, smooth handling, and comfortable ride. That lines up well with the X5’s use case as a midsize, two-row luxury SUV that blends everyday utility with a more engaging driving feel than many rivals. With 36.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a compelling example if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 BMW X5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.47/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that can feel dependable when it has been cared for properly, with praise centered on its strong performance and comfortable, polished driving experience. At the same time, some owners mention maintenance issues, so long-term ownership risk is still something you should take seriously on the used market.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 BMW X5?

At 62.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you go any further. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury SUV where repair costs can climb quickly if something has been neglected. Focus your attention on overall condition, maintenance consistency, and any signs that the vehicle has been used hard or repaired poorly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 BMW X5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and disciplined.

• Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,327 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.41% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,239, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $15,252 sits slightly below last year's $17,216.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the X5 more approachable for you as a buyer but also means future resale gains may be limited if depreciation continues. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter a lot, because well-kept examples tend to stand out more when the broader market is softening. Strong pricing today can still support a reasonable exit later if you buy carefully and keep the vehicle in good shape.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.47/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.47/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 BMW X5 is the better path if you want the updated tech, strong owner satisfaction, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 remains the more compelling choice when you want a well-rounded luxury SUV with a strong mix of comfort, performance, and everyday usefulness.
