How much does the 2017 BMW 3 Series cost?

Prices have softened 5.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,277 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 BMW 3 Series a good car?

Generally — the 4.22/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its style, performance, comfort, spacious interior, and exceptional handling, and many see it as a great value when well maintained. That fits a used luxury sedan aimed at you if you want driving enjoyment and premium character rather than just a badge. With 35.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 BMW 3 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.22/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to a car that can be dependable and trouble-free when it has been properly maintained, with some owners describing it as a strong long-term value. At the same time, concerns about potential engine issues and upkeep mean your ownership risk is tied closely to prior maintenance quality.

For used buyers, the long-term risk is manageable if you choose carefully, but skipping inspection or service-history checks can leave you exposed to expensive repairs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 BMW 3 Series?

At 54.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Focus on maintenance records, signs of prior bodywork, and any evidence of engine or electrical issues, since condition and upkeep matter a lot on this model.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 BMW 3 Series?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,277 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 54.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,471, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 BMW 3 Series's resale value?

The current average of $13,528 sits slightly below last year's $14,286.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale upside may depend more on condition, mileage, and service history than on broad market momentum. Well-kept examples should hold up better than neglected ones because buyers in this segment tend to reward maintenance and presentation.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.22/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 BMW 3 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.22/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $11,917, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $13,528 average.
• It emphasizes thrilling driving with everyday usability.

The bottom line: Choose the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the better value play, especially if you find one with strong maintenance records and a clean inspection.
