How much does the 2017 BMW 3 Series cost?

Prices have softened 5.55% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,272 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 BMW 3 Series a good car?

Generally — the 2017 BMW 3 Series earns a 4.2/5 user rating, which points to strong shopper satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its style, performance, and comfort, with especially positive feedback on the spacious interior and exceptional handling. The overview also frames it as a compact luxury sedan that delivers real driving character, premium feel, and broad configuration choices, which helps if you want a used luxury car that feels engaging rather than merely upscale. With 32.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitively priced example.

Is the 2017 BMW 3 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a car that can be dependable when well maintained, with drivers describing it as a great value when kept in good shape. At the same time, some owners raised concerns about potential engine issues, so reliability depends heavily on how the car was cared for. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable, but only if you verify maintenance history and avoid neglected examples.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 BMW 3 Series?

At 52.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on mechanical condition, since owner feedback mentions potential engine issues in some models. Focus on service records, warning lights, and signs of deferred maintenance, because upkeep matters a lot on this car.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 BMW 3 Series?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently and still find value.

• Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,272 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.55% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 52.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,441, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 BMW 3 Series's resale value?

The current average of $13,441 sits slightly below last year's $14,231.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right number. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintenance documented, you may be better positioned when it is time to sell. Strong demand for well-kept examples should help support values, especially for cars with desirable equipment and clean history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 BMW 3 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.55% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $11,780, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $13,441 average.
• It emphasizes thrilling driving with practical room for four.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and shopper satisfaction. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the better value play, especially if you find one with a clean history and strong maintenance records.
