Used 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan for Sale near Washington

How much does the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

Prices have softened 4.77% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 850 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan earns a 4.4/5 user rating, which points to solid owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its driving experience, interior quality, and value for the price, and many also highlight its smooth ride and good fuel economy. That lines up well if you want a compact SUV that feels a bit more polished and driver-focused than many rivals, with a roomy cabin and a clear path to more upscale features. With 37.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many people have found dependable enough to live with day to day, especially when it comes to the driving experience and overall value. At the same time, the model’s mixed reliability reputation means you should pay close attention to maintenance history and how the vehicle has aged over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that unresolved mechanical or electrical issues can become expensive if you skip a thorough pre-purchase check.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan?

At 59.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on every candidate and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on the engine, cooling system, electrical systems, and any signs of water intrusion or roof-related issues. A careful test drive and a pre-purchase inspection can help you separate a clean, well-maintained example from one that may become costly later.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 850 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,186, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $9,208 sits slightly below last year's $9,668.

That price movement suggests the market has softened, which can make the Tiguan easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to sell soon. For future sellers, a lower current market price means you may need to price competitively to attract attention. Condition and maintenance history matter more when the market is softer, because buyers have more alternatives to choose from.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the Tiguan’s polished driving feel, roomy cabin, and value-oriented pricing, the 2016 model is a sensible primary target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also use the softer market to compare carefully against other nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the cheapest listing.
