Is the 2016 Subaru Legacy a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction for this model year. The 2016 Legacy stands out as a midsize sedan with standard all-wheel drive at the center of its appeal, along with a more advanced and refined feel than earlier versions. It also offers useful safety content and everyday confidence in poor weather, making it a practical fit if you value comfort, safety features, and year-round traction over flash. With 29.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Subaru Legacy reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Legacy’s appeal comes from standard all-wheel drive, useful safety tech, and a sensible feature set that supports everyday use. Its reputation for strong safety content and confidence in poor weather also fits buyers who want a dependable commuter with extra traction. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is finding a car whose condition and maintenance history match its mileage and age.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Subaru Legacy?

At 56.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection on any car that looks especially clean or unusually well priced. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s wear matches its age and mileage. If a listing has accident history, make sure the repairs were done well and that the car still drives and tracks straight.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Subaru Legacy?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 649 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,356, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Subaru Legacy's resale value?

The current average of $11,954 sits slightly below last year's $11,986.

That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable, which is helpful if you plan to sell later and want predictable pricing. Because the average price has not moved sharply, you should expect resale value to depend more on condition, mileage, and history than on broad market swings. Well-kept examples should remain easier to move than cars with accident history or visible wear.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $10,399, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $11,954 average.
• The 2015 emphasizes space, comfort, and a more polished presentation.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price stability, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2015 is the better value path, especially if you find one in clean condition.
