Is the 2016 Subaru Impreza a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Subaru Impreza earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It stands out as a practical all-weather compact with standard all-wheel drive, so you get extra confidence in poor conditions. It also blends everyday usefulness with an affordable, practical character rather than chasing sport or luxury. With 32.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive offer.

Is the 2016 Subaru Impreza reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Impreza’s straightforward formula and practical design support its reputation as an easy car to live with. Its standard all-wheel drive and no-nonsense character make it appealing for buyers who want dependable everyday use rather than flash. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a car that has been worn hard or poorly maintained, so condition matters a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Subaru Impreza?

At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on the ride quality and cabin condition, since the car is described as having a rough ride and cheap interior materials. Focus on overall maintenance records and visible wear so you can separate a clean, well-kept example from one that has been used hard.

What is the 2016 Subaru Impreza's resale value?

The current average of $10,537 sits slightly below last year's $11,025.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it can also mean future sellers may need to price competitively. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it’s time to sell. The model’s practical appeal and standard all-wheel drive should help keep interest steady among shoppers looking for an affordable, capable compact.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Subaru Impreza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.43% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $10,110, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $10,537 average.
• It brings better interior amenities and a quieter cabin.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $12,534, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $10,537 average.
• It adds an all-new, practical package with standard all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, confidence in poor weather, and broad shopper appeal, the 2016 is the primary pick. If your budget is tighter, the 2015 is the better value play, while the 2017 makes sense if you want to spend more for the newer-generation package.
