Used 2016 RAM 2500 for Sale nearRaleigh, NC

How much does the 2016 RAM 2500 cost?

Prices have softened 5.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,770 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2016 RAM 2500 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 RAM 2500 earns a 4.7/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its powerful performance and towing capability, and they also highlight comfort and reliability for everyday driving. That fits well if you want a heavy-duty truck that can work hard without feeling stripped down, especially since the model was designed to balance capability with a more upscale, daily-driver-friendly feel. With 29.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 RAM 2500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback emphasizes reliability alongside comfort and strong performance, and it also points to trouble-free everyday use for many drivers. At the same time, some owners mention concerns about the 68RFE 6-speed automatic transmission, especially in higher-mileage trucks without service history. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable if you focus on maintenance records and avoid trucks with unclear transmission history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 RAM 2500?

At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean trucks from those with prior damage. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to transmission behavior, service records, and signs of hard use. Because this is a heavy-duty truck, condition matters as much as mileage, so focus on how well the truck was maintained and whether it was used for demanding towing or hauling.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 RAM 2500?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep bargain-bin pricing.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,770 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.69% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,520, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 RAM 2500's resale value?

The current average of $27,555 sits slightly below last year's $29,216.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit short-term appreciation if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the truck in strong condition so you preserve as much value as possible. Trucks with strong owner satisfaction ratings tend to hold buyer interest better, especially when they combine capability with comfort.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $30,120, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $27,555 average.
• It adds a broader, more comfort-focused mix of trims and features.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the better value if you want strong capability, good owner satisfaction, and a lower average price. If you can stretch for the 2017, you may prefer its broader feature mix and more modern feel, but price-sensitive buyers should start with the 2016 and shop carefully for a clean, well-maintained example.
