How much does the 2016 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices are up 3.80% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,539 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and condition.

Is the 2016 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Mazda CX-5 earns a 4.7/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its blend of performance, comfort, and value for money, along with solid handling, good gas mileage, and useful safety features. That lines up well if you want a compact SUV that feels more engaging to drive than many rivals while still serving as a practical daily driver. With 33.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience for many drivers, with praise centered on comfort, value, and trouble-free day-to-day use. Even so, used buyers should treat this as a model where condition matters, since long-term ownership risk can rise if prior maintenance or repair history is weak.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mazda CX-5?

At 57.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on mechanical condition, electrical operation, and brake performance. It also makes sense to pay close attention to infotainment behavior and overall interior wear, since those are the kinds of issues owners have mentioned.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly when a strong listing appears.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,539 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.80% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 57.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,056, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $14,069 sits slightly above last year's $13,554.

That upward move suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. A stable-to-rising price trend can help protect your equity, especially if you buy near the lower end of the range and keep the vehicle in strong condition. Strong owner satisfaction also helps support demand when it is time to list the car.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.80% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,192, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $14,069 average.
• It’s especially fun to drive, with lively handling and strong owner praise.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $16,016, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $14,069 average.
• It feels more refined and upscale while staying fun to drive.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the better all-around pick if you want a satisfying balance of price, owner approval, and everyday usability. If your budget is tighter, the 2015 is the value play; if you want a more premium-feeling version and can spend more, the 2017 is the upgrade path.
