Is the 2016 Mazda CX-3 a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2016 Mazda CX-3 stands out as Mazda’s small crossover with a premium feel and a sporty personality, and it was designed as a compact, city-friendly alternative for shoppers who want SUV styling without moving up in size. It also combines standard all-wheel drive with a lively driving character and a well-equipped cabin for its class, though you should expect compromises in back-seat space, cargo room, and infotainment usability. With 30.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Mazda CX-3 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Mazda CX-3 is presented as a well-rounded small crossover with great safety ratings and a premium-feeling cabin, which supports confidence for used buyers. Its standard all-wheel drive and reputation for a fun-to-drive character also make it appealing if you want a small SUV that feels more polished than basic transportation.

For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about outright size and more about whether the specific used example has been cared for well, especially given the model’s compact packaging and feature-heavy setup.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mazda CX-3?

At 54.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of past collision work, then make sure the cabin electronics and infotainment system operate as expected. Because this model emphasizes style and driving feel over space, you should also check that the interior and cargo area still meet your day-to-day needs.

What is the 2016 Mazda CX-3's resale value?

The current average of $12,568 sits slightly below last year's $12,778.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already moved through some of its early depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you keep the vehicle in good condition and choose a clean-history example, you should be in a better position to preserve value when it is time to sell. Demand should also benefit from the model’s strong owner satisfaction.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mazda CX-3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2016 if you want the CX-3’s small, premium-feeling package and you can verify a clean, well-kept example. If you are especially price-sensitive, keep an eye on listings near the low end of the range and be ready to move quickly when a clean-history vehicle appears.
