Is the 2016 Lexus GX a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Lexus GX earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its luxurious features, spacious interior, reliability, all-wheel-drive capability, and off-road readiness. For you, that makes it a compelling fit if you want a luxury SUV with real trail ability and a more upscale cabin than many rugged competitors. Is the 2016 Lexus GX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly highlights reliability, overall dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, along with confidence in its all-wheel-drive capability and durability. That combination suggests the GX can be a sensible used buy if you want something you can count on over time, though you should still budget for the usual age-related wear that comes with a used luxury SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Lexus GX?

At 52.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to body condition, alignment, suspension behavior, and signs of uneven wear. Because this model blends luxury equipment with off-road hardware, you should also focus on how well the cabin electronics, camera systems, and third-row seating function in real-world use.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Lexus GX?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to be picky if you shop with a clear target.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 441 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 52.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,636, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Lexus GX's resale value?

The current average of $23,979 sits slightly below last year's $24,856.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays steady. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter a lot, especially because buyers in this segment tend to compare clean history and overall presentation closely. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it is time to move on.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Lexus GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a strong choice if you want a well-liked GX with a softer used price and you are willing to shop carefully for condition and history. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year with a lower entry price may be worth comparing, but the 2016 remains a compelling balance of owner satisfaction, market availability, and value.
