Is the 2016 Kia Soul a good car?

Yes — the 4.65/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, great gas mileage, solid performance, comfort, handling, and affordability. For you, that means the Soul makes the most sense if you want a practical small hatchback with personality and everyday usefulness rather than a bland commuter. Is the 2016 Kia Soul reliable?

Owners rate it 4.65/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car people tend to count on for comfort, efficiency, and everyday usability. The repeated praise for solid performance and affordability also supports the idea that this is a dependable choice for routine use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by heavy use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Kia Soul?

At 55.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, signs of repair quality, and whether the car’s features and wear match the mileage and asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Kia Soul?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,186 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.55% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,343, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $8,343 sits slightly below last year's $8,928.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also means future resale gains may be limited unless you choose carefully. If you plan to sell later, condition and maintenance will matter a lot, because buyers will likely compare your car against a market that already reflects some price easing. Strong examples should still hold attention well, especially if they present cleanly and have a good service history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.65/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.55% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.65/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $7,816, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $8,343 average.
• It offers strong value with a more personality-driven, well-equipped feel.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $8,863, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $8,343 average.
• It adds updated looks, an optional turbo engine, and newer tech.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the best all-around pick if you want a balanced mix of price, owner satisfaction, and available inventory. If your priority is saving money, the 2015 is the better value-oriented alternative. If you want newer features and are willing to pay more, the 2017 is the more premium-feeling choice.
