Used 2016 Jeep Renegade for Sale near Colorado

How much does the 2016 Jeep Renegade cost?

Prices have softened 9.33% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,455 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2016 Jeep Renegade a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Jeep Renegade earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its performance, style, affordability, smooth driving experience, high-tech features, and sharp design. That lines up with the Renegade’s role as a small crossover that aims to feel more distinctive and more memorable than many rivals, while still working as an everyday driver. If you want a compact SUV with personality and a more premium-feeling presentation, this model year fits that brief well. The market also shows 30.2% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Jeep Renegade reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with repeated praise for its smooth driving experience and overall satisfaction with performance and style. The expert review also describes it as practical, affordable, and thoughtfully executed, which supports the idea that it can be a solid companion for regular ownership. The cost-effectiveness notes, however, caution that Jeeps and Fiats are not known for reliability, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition before committing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Jeep Renegade?

At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection matters here, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a lower asking price. Focus on body condition, signs of collision repair, and whether the vehicle’s equipment and drivability match the seller’s description.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Trailhawk version adds the most capability, with 8.7 inches of ground clearance, skid plates, hill-descent control, and improved approach, departure, and breakover angles. The Latitude example in the review shows how a non-Trailhawk trim can still be well equipped with features like heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, passive entry, remote start, navigation, and premium audio.
• Powertrain: The standard setup includes a turbocharged 1.4-liter 4-cylinder with a manual gearbox, while the optional 2.4-liter 4-cylinder pairs with an automatic transmission. The 2.4-liter is responsive around town and has no trouble on the freeway, but passing power is limited when the cabin is full.
• Safety package: An available Advanced Technology package adds forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear parking assist with rear cross-traffic alert. It is recommended on versions other than the basic Sport model.
• Infotainment: The Renegade uses a 6.5-inch display, and the available Beats audio system is a plus. It does not offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The review cites 24 mpg combined as the EPA figure, while the test vehicle returned 21.4 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2016 Jeep Renegade trim should I buy?

The 2016 Jeep Renegade is offered in 6 trim levels: Sport, Latitude, Limited, Trailhawk, 75th Anniversary Edition, and Dawn of Justice Special Edition.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, but it is the trim most likely to leave you wanting more equipment. If you’re shopping used, it makes sense mainly when price is your top priority.
• Latitude: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it can be equipped with useful comfort and convenience upgrades without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• Limited: Choose this if you want a more upscale-feeling Renegade with a stronger emphasis on comfort and appearance.
• Trailhawk: This is the one to buy if you want the Renegade’s most authentic Jeep character. It adds the most ground clearance and the off-road hardware that makes the model stand out.
• 75th Anniversary Edition: This is for shoppers who want a special-edition look and a more distinctive presentation.
• Dawn of Justice Special Edition: This is another appearance-focused choice for buyers who want something less common on the used market.

The Advanced Technology package is the safety upgrade to look for, especially on trims above the basic Sport.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Jeep Renegade?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,455 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.33% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,860, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Jeep Renegade's resale value?

The current average of $9,860 sits slightly below last year's $10,874.

That decline suggests the Renegade has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you own one and plan to sell later, the current trend points to a market that rewards clean condition, strong documentation, and desirable equipment. Models with the right trim and options should hold more appeal than bare-bones examples, especially if they present well and have a clean history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Jeep Renegade safe?

The 2016 Jeep Renegade earns four-star ratings for driver and front passenger protection in a frontal collision, three-star ratings for rear seat side-impact protection, and three-star ratings for rollover resistance with 4-wheel drive from NHTSA.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

The available Advanced Technology package adds forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear parking assist with rear cross-traffic alert. That package is especially worth seeking out because the base safety story is mixed, and the review also notes that the LATCH anchors can be difficult to access. The expert review further flags the crash-test results as a concern, and the IIHS had not rated the 2016 model at the time of the review.

Should I buy a 2016 Jeep Renegade or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 adds useful tech and safety options, including the available Advanced Technology package.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $9,309, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $9,860 average.
• It introduced the Renegade as an all-new, off-road-capable small crossover with a distinctive personality.

The bottom line: If you want the better shopping environment and the more current used-market pricing picture, the 2016 is the stronger default choice. If your priority is spending less up front and you’re comfortable with an older example, the 2015 can make sense as a value play. Either way, condition and equipment matter a lot, so the best buy is the cleanest, best-documented Renegade you can find.
