Why it stands out
The 2016 Ford Taurus stands out as a full-size sedan that still offered a lot of space and a choice of powertrains at a time when many rivals had moved on to newer ideas. In this generation, Ford had already given the Taurus a bold three-bar grille and a full-size mission, and the car’s appeal for shoppers was straightforward: it was meant to be a roomy, mainstream sedan with enough variety to suit different priorities. For buyers focused on value, the Taurus also fit the description of a spacious, reliable car that could be a good deal.
For 2016 specifically, the Taurus benefited from the sixth-generation updates that included the refreshed exterior, updated suspension, and improved front seats. It also had Ford’s Sync and MyFordTouch infotainment software, while the Taurus Limited could be equipped with advanced safety features such as blind-spot warning with cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and collision warning with brake support. The lineup’s strengths were its size, available equipment, and broad range of engines, including the 3.5-liter V6 and the 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder. The tradeoff was that non-SHO models were described as having pedestrian performance, and the car’s technology was considered outdated.

With all the bigger cars going to a 4 cylinder engine this car is is more quiet and smoother. Drove one with 100k still tight and no rattles. Just felt solid well made. All bigger cars should have v8s but this will do just fine! Also super comfortable and good fuel mileage and reliable. Closest to a good old crown vic you can get but modernized

It seems like a really nice car. Is obviously has plenty of power. I guess it is a little bit of a let down inside, finding it a little on the small side for a large sedan.

How much does the 2016 Ford Taurus cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $10,622 |
| Year-Round Low | $9,940 |
| Year-Round High | $10,951 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $10,871 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −2.29% |
Prices have softened 2.29% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 508 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2016 Ford Taurus a good car?
Yes — the 4.67/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2016 Taurus is presented as a roomy, mainstream full-size sedan with enough variety to suit different priorities, and it was aimed at shoppers who wanted space and value in a practical package. Its appeal is especially clear if you want a large sedan with broad utility rather than a more specialized or flashy alternative. 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2016 Ford Taurus reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Taurus is described as a spacious, reliable car that could be a good deal, which supports the case for dependable everyday use. It also benefited from sixth-generation updates that included an updated suspension and improved front seats, both of which matter for long-term comfort and wear. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the basic formula and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by age or mileage.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Ford Taurus?
At 58.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, put the inspection focus on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of uneven wear, since those are the areas most likely to reveal past incidents or neglect. Because this model is now well into used-car territory, condition matters more than ever when you compare similar-priced listings.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford Taurus?
This looks like a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.
- Deal availability: 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 508 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.29% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 58.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $9,940, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Ford Taurus's resale value?
The current average of $10,622 sits slightly below last year's $10,871.
That tells you the market has eased a bit, which can work against a seller trying to maximize return. If you plan to resell later, you should expect value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car presents at the time of sale. A clean, well-kept example should still be easier to move than one with visible wear or a rough history.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2016 Ford Taurus or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.29% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want a roomy full-size sedan with a favorable price trend and a decent pool of listings, the 2016 is the sensible default choice. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained example rather than chasing the lowest sticker price alone.
