Used 2016 Ford Expedition for Sale near Illinois

How much does the 2016 Ford Expedition cost?

Prices have softened 5.64% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 960 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable number of options to compare.

Is the 2016 Ford Expedition a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Ford Expedition earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise the smooth ride, spacious interior, and comfortable family-friendly layout, and many also note its quiet operation and favorable fuel efficiency for a large SUV. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a roomy three-row SUV with real utility and a comfortable road feel. With 31.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Ford Expedition reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to dependable everyday comfort, with many drivers describing it as smooth, quiet, and easy to live with over time. At the same time, some owners mention reliability concerns and dissatisfaction with dealer service, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition. For used buyers, that means the long-term ownership risk is manageable, but only if you verify the vehicle’s past carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Ford Expedition?

At 64.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle has been maintained consistently. If a listing looks especially clean and well-priced, make sure the paperwork and inspection support what you see in the photos.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford Expedition?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 960 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.64% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,057, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Ford Expedition's resale value?

The current average of $13,193 sits slightly below last year's $13,981.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. If you plan to sell later, the current trend implies you may not see rapid appreciation, so condition and mileage will matter even more when it is time to trade in or list the vehicle. Strong demand for roomy, family-focused SUVs can still support value, especially if your Expedition is well maintained and clean.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Ford Expedition or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $11,587, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $13,193 average.
• It introduced a more fuel-efficient EcoBoost V6.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall market balance, the 2016 is the better starting point because it combines solid owner satisfaction with a meaningful number of deal listings. If your main goal is to spend less upfront, the 2015 is the better value-oriented alternative, especially if you are comfortable trading some of the 2016’s market freshness for a lower purchase price.
