The Ford Edge I bought was the titanium trim, so its absolutely loaded with features. The biggest surprises for me was that the rear seats are heated as well, and that the leather seats are some of the comfiest non- luxury brand seats Ive sat on. The V6 also offers enough power, abs the transmission is smooth through the gears. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality and the ride of this vehicle.

| Current Average Price | $11,253 |
| Year-Round Low | $11,258.35 |
| Year-Round High | $12,175.50 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $12,166 |

Prices have softened 7.51% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,680 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.
If you find a listing below $11,258.35, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2016 Ford Edge a good car?
Generally — the 4.45/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 8.5/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.
Owners consistently praise the comfortable ride, spacious interior, smooth handling, and the technology and features packed into this SUV. That lines up with the Edge’s family-friendly layout and its balance of utility and driving enjoyment. With 29.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding one that fits your budget well.
Is the 2016 Ford Edge reliable?
Owners rate it 4.45/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a comfortable, smooth, and generally dependable ownership experience, with the kind of everyday usability that helps a vehicle feel trouble-free over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes strong noise isolation and a well-sorted drivetrain, which supports the impression of a crossover you can count on for regular use.
Ford’s maintenance perk language is not included in the data here, so your best move is to focus on service records and signs of wear before you buy. For used shoppers, the main long-term risk is that minor electronic issues or neglected maintenance can become expensive if you skip a thorough inspection.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Ford Edge?
At 67.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Pay close attention to bodywork, braking feel, tire wear, and any signs that the vehicle has been repaired after a collision. Because this model year has a meaningful accident history in the market, condition matters more than mileage alone.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base SE is described as having few options, while the SEL and Titanium add more equipment; the Sport sits at the top of the lineup with standard all-wheel drive and adaptive steering.
- Powertrain: The SE uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, the SEL and Titanium are available with a 3.5-liter V6, and the Sport uses a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 with 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.
- Safety package: The available driver-assistance suite includes forward camera, semi-autonomous parking, forward-collision warning, and lane-keeping assist. The model lacks automatic emergency braking, and the base safety setup relies on Brake Support instead.
- Infotainment: Sync 3 brings a capacitive touch display, faster response, improved voice recognition, upgraded graphics, smartphone projection for Apple and Android devices, and Wi-Fi software updates.
- Fuel efficiency: The Sport returned 19.7 mpg in testing and was rated at 20 mpg in combined driving.
Which 2016 Ford Edge trim should I buy?
The 2016 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, Sport.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The SE is the value entry point, but it comes with few options and lacks the richer equipment found higher up the range.
- Sweet-spot trim: The SEL is the best middle-ground choice if you want more equipment than the SE without jumping all the way to the top.
- Premium/top trim: The Titanium is the most appealing upscale pick if you want the richer feature set without going to the Sport’s performance focus.
- Off-road trim: The Sport is the enthusiast choice, but its performance-oriented setup and expensive tire replacement make it less ideal for typical daily-driver priorities.
The safety package note to keep in mind is that the model does not include automatic emergency braking, even though it offers several other driver-assistance features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford Edge?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile deals.
- Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,680 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.51% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 67.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,258.35, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Ford Edge's resale value?
The current average of $11,253 sits slightly below last year's $12,166.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point if you plan to keep the vehicle for a while. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than broad market momentum alone. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than neglected ones.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.45/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 Ford Edge safe?
It earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA assessments, plus a four-star rollover resistance rating. It also received an Acceptable rating in the IIHS small overlap frontal impact test.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
The Edge includes 911 Assist and MyKey programmable safety features, and available driver-assistance tech includes forward camera, semi-autonomous parking, forward-collision warning, and lane-keeping assist. The model does not have automatic emergency braking, which is a notable gap for shoppers who prioritize the latest collision-avoidance tech. The expert review also flags the braking system as a weakness, so you should pay close attention to brake condition and pedal feel on any used example.
Should I buy a 2016 Ford Edge or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 67.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.51% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.45/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2016 brings Sync 3 and standard all-wheel drive on the Sport, which sharpen its tech and performance appeal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $12,543, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $11,253 average.
- It adds a more family-focused package with ample cargo room and storage cubbies.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2016 is the stronger buy because prices have softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2017 is the cleaner path for shoppers who want a slightly more refined family crossover package.
