Is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

The 2016 Trax is described as straightforward and easy to live with, with a simple setup that emphasizes practicality over complexity. Its compact size and available all-wheel drive add to its everyday usefulness, especially if you want a small crossover that is easy to maneuver. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is finding a well-kept example, since condition and maintenance history matter more than the model’s basic formula.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Trax?

At 60.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection on any listing that looks especially clean or unusually cheap. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the vehicle’s equipment and wear match its mileage and asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Trax?

• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.01% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $8,651, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

The current average of $8,728 sits slightly below last year's $9,092.

That softer pricing suggests the Trax is in a buyer-friendly phase, which can make it easier for future sellers to attract attention if they price carefully. The current market also gives you a clearer benchmark for setting expectations if you plan to trade or sell later. Because values have moved down from a year ago, holding a clean, well-documented example matters more if you want to protect your return.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $9,008, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $8,728 average.
• It adds refreshed styling and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if your priority is value and you want a lower entry price in a market with meaningful deal availability. If you can spend more for updated tech and a fresher look, the 2017 is the better secondary path.
