How much does the 2016 BMW X3 cost?

Prices have softened 9.09% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 929 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 BMW X3 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 BMW X3 earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its smooth driving experience, powerful performance, and luxury features, and many also like its sporty handling and premium feel. That makes it a strong fit if you want a compact luxury SUV that feels more like a car from behind the wheel and still works well for everyday practicality. With 35.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also enough market activity to give you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 BMW X3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable overall ownership experience, with praise for the model’s smooth driving character and strong performance over time. At the same time, the overview notes that regular maintenance matters, especially with turbocharged engines, and that you should watch for automatic transmission issues, oil leaks, and occasional electrical problems. For used buyers, that means the long-term risk is manageable if you choose carefully and verify maintenance history before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 BMW X3?

At 60.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you get too far into the process. A pre-purchase inspection should be a priority, especially if you want to check for transmission concerns, oil leaks, and electrical issues mentioned in the model overview. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, since premium ownership costs can be higher and a well-kept example is more likely to reward you over time.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 BMW X3?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 929 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.09% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,267, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $11,267 sits slightly below last year's $12,394.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point if you plan to own the vehicle for several years. For a future seller, the softer current pricing means resale upside may be more limited in the near term unless the car is especially clean, well maintained, and attractively equipped. Strong condition and documented care matter more when the broader market is already pricing the model below last year’s level.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a smart choice if you want a well-liked X3 with softer pricing and enough inventory to shop carefully. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a cleaner or better-equipped example appears at a similar cost, but the 2016 already offers a strong balance of value and owner approval.
