How much does the 2016 Acura RDX cost?

There are 743 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 Acura RDX a good car?

Generally — 4/5 from users and 7.2/10 from our experts, the 2016 Acura RDX looks like a well-rounded compact luxury crossover for you if you want a 5-passenger SUV that was meaningfully updated rather than lightly refreshed. The overhaul brought upgraded powertrain hardware, improved safety, and new infotainment tech, and the result is a model that feels more substantial than a cosmetic makeover.

The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

The RDX’s appeal is strongest if you value a premium-feeling package with broad everyday usefulness, though the overall verdict depends on whether you’re open-minded about its luxury-crossover formula. 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Acura RDX reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The RDX’s ownership case is helped by Acura’s expectation that it will be reliable, hold its value well, and stay relatively affordable to own over time. The upgraded V6 is described as refined and eager, and the powertrain’s efficiency features help it balance performance with everyday usability. Acura also notes that premium fuel is recommended but not required, which gives you a little flexibility at the pump.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the vehicle’s maintenance history is clean and the added technology still works as intended.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Acura RDX?

At 58.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a lot of option content. Pay close attention to body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the infotainment and driver-assistance features operate correctly, since this model year added more technology than earlier versions.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base version gets the refreshed styling and standard wheels, but the higher packages add more upscale equipment and convenience features, so you should compare feature gaps carefully before deciding how much trim you really need.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-liter V6 with 279 horsepower, a 6-speed automatic, front-wheel drive standard, and available all-wheel drive; the engine is described as more powerful and more fuel-efficient than before, with Variable Cylinder Management helping efficiency.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch Plus adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist; Technology and Advance packages also add blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The RDX uses a dual-screen setup with the lower screen dedicated to radio and media and the upper screen handling the rest of the system; the navigation map can show real-time traffic data, and pairing and streaming are described as easy.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 is rated at 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway with AWD, and the engine is also described as returning up to 29 mpg on the highway in the broader performance discussion.

Which 2016 Acura RDX trim should I buy?

The 2016 Acura RDX is offered in 4 trim levels: base, AcuraWatch, Technology, and Advance.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the starting point if you want the refreshed RDX at the lowest entry cost, but you’ll want to compare it carefully against the higher trims because the more advanced driver-assistance and convenience features are reserved for the packages above it.
• AcuraWatch: This is the best-value choice if you want the core safety upgrade, since it adds AcuraWatch Plus content without jumping all the way to the more expensive trims.
• Technology: This is the trim to target if you want a more complete luxury experience, because it layers in the tech and convenience upgrades and also unlocks blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.
• Advance: This is the most fully equipped version, bundling the top-level content and the full safety package, so it makes sense if you want the most features and don’t mind paying for them.

The safety-package trim note is simple: AcuraWatch Plus is included with the Advance package, while the standard RDX and Technology package can get it as an option.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Acura RDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly when you find the right listing.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 743 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.19% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,284, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Acura RDX's resale value?

The current average of $14,284 sits slightly below last year's $15,066.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and equipment than on broad market momentum alone. Well-kept examples with desirable features should still attract attention, especially because the model has a reputation for being a practical premium crossover.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Acura RDX safe?

The 2016 Acura RDX earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in each collision assessment and a four-star rating for rollover resistance.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

AcuraWatch Plus brings adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. Technology and Advance trims also add blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert. One caveat is that the lane-departure warning system was described as less accurate, and the lane-keeping assist and warning alerts can be turned off if you prefer.

Should I buy a 2016 Acura RDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.19% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• For 2016, Acura gives the RDX a thorough update, upgrading the powertrain, enhancing vehicle safety, and installing new infotainment technologies.

The bottom line: If you want the most updated version of this generation’s RDX, the 2016 model is the one to focus on because it brings the refreshed styling, stronger powertrain, and added safety tech together in one package. If you’re more price-sensitive, you can still shop nearby years, but the 2016 is the better pick when you want the most complete version of this crossover’s formula.
