What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Volvo S60?

At 64.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had prior bodywork or any signs of uneven wear. Focus on maintenance records, tire condition, brake wear, and whether the car has been serviced on schedule. If you’re comparing multiple listings, the cleanest example is usually worth paying more for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S60 range includes the T5 Drive-E FWD, T5 AWD, T6 Drive-E FWD, and T6 R-Design AWD. The base setup is well equipped, but higher trims add more equipment, and the R-Design brings exterior enhancements, a sport chassis, and interior upgrades.
• Powertrain: The new Drive-E 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder is smooth, refined, and quiet, with an 8-speed automatic. AWD versions continue with proven 5- and 6-cylinder powertrains, and the T6 options add more power if you want stronger acceleration.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes City Safety and Dynamic Stability and Traction Control. Available driver-assistance features include Blind-Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake, and Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection. Some of the more advanced safety tech is optional rather than standard.
• Infotainment: The standard Sensus Connect system uses a 7-inch screen. Volvo On Call is standard and includes a WiFi hotspot, and the system supports apps plus smartphone integration.
• Fuel efficiency: The Drive-E engine is rated at 25 mpg city/37 highway, while the more powerful T6 R-Design AWD is rated at 19/28.

Which 2015 Volvo S60 trim should I buy?

The 2015 Volvo S60 is offered in 4 trim levels: T5 Drive-E FWD, T5 AWD, T6 Drive-E FWD, T6 R-Design AWD.

Here's the short version:

• T5 Drive-E FWD: This is the best-value choice if you want the freshest powertrain, strong fuel economy, and the core S60 experience without paying for extra performance hardware.
• T5 AWD: Choose this if you want all-wheel drive and the security of the proven 5-cylinder setup.
• T6 Drive-E FWD: Pick this if you want the stronger turbo-and-supercharged engine and more punch without moving all the way to the top trim.
• T6 R-Design AWD: This is the enthusiast pick, with the most power, a sport chassis, and the most aggressive appearance and interior upgrades.

The safety content also notes that Volvo’s advanced safety technology is available in the S60, while some of the more advanced systems are optional depending on trim.

What is the 2015 Volvo S60's resale value?

The current average of $8,871 sits slightly below last year's $9,901.

That price movement suggests the S60 has softened enough to help you buy in at a more favorable point. For a future seller, that also means resale gains may be more limited than in some rival luxury brands, so condition and trim choice matter more. If you keep the car well maintained and choose a desirable configuration, you can help protect value better over time.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2015 Volvo S60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015.5 update brings a fresh look and new Drive-E engines that renew the range.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $8,202, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $8,871 average.
• It offers style, performance, and comfort with top-notch safety.

The bottom line: The 2015 is the better pick if you want the updated look, newer engines, and stronger market value balance. If your priority is simply spending less up front, the 2014 can still make sense, especially if you find a clean example with the right equipment.
