Summary
With 142 currently listed for sale near Los Angeles, CA and an average price of $14,420.00, 28.9% of 2015 Toyota RAV4s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Toyota RAV4 4.88 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2015 Toyota RAV4 stands out as a compact crossover that combines perky drivability, high fuel economy, and generous cargo space in a package that is easy to like. Those strengths make it especially appealing to buyers who want a practical SUV that can handle everyday errands and road trips without feeling cumbersome.
It is also helped by improved crash-test ratings, which raise its standing among other vehicles in the class. At the same time, it is not the most exciting choice in the segment, and its lack of extra punch keeps it from being the standout recommendation for shoppers who want more personality or performance. Even so, for loyal Toyota buyers and anyone prioritizing space, efficiency, and a reassuring overall balance, the 2015 RAV4 remains a solid option.

The RAV4 drives great and has most of the features I wanted. The only things I would add is rear air conditioning and cross bars on the roof rack. It drives smooth and gets incredible gas mileage for an AWD vehicle. Im quite happy with my purchase and cant wait for the first big roadtrip!

Is the 2015 Toyota RAV4 a good car?
Yes — 4.88/5 owners’ rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7.33/10. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Cost effectiveness.
Owners consistently praise its reliability, spaciousness, and impressive fuel economy, and they also call out good handling and a comfortable ride. That lines up with the overview’s emphasis on a practical compact crossover that works well for everyday errands and road trips without feeling cumbersome. It is not the most exciting choice in the segment, but for you, the appeal is clear if you want space, efficiency, and easy livability.
26.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Toyota RAV4 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. User feedback also points to reliability, and the ownership-cost commentary says trouble is unlikely, with dependability and quality rated highly.
The expert notes reinforce that theme by saying trouble is unlikely and that the vehicle is rated highly for dependability, quality, and reliability. It also includes free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles of ownership, which helps reduce early ownership costs.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about finding a well-kept example with a clean service history.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota RAV4?
At 53.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle’s equipment and safety features match the trim being advertised. If you are comparing multiple examples, a cleaner history is worth paying for.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup includes LE, XLE, and Limited. The base trim is the most stripped-down choice, while the higher trims add more comfort and convenience equipment; the Limited is also the only trim that can get the optional Technology Package with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning.
- Powertrain: Every RAV4 uses a 176-hp, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It is peppy and refined, but it can feel a bit underpowered from a stop, even though it returns strong fuel economy.
- Safety package: Every version gets a rear-view camera. The optional Technology Package, available only on Limited, adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning. Active cruise control and active braking are unavailable.
- Infotainment: The test vehicle uses a 6.1-inch touchscreen with Entune smartphone apps, and it includes navigation, Internet radio, HD Radio, traffic, and weather data. The system does not support wireless CarPlay or Android Auto.
- Fuel efficiency: The RAV4 is estimated at 25 mpg combined, and the test vehicle returned 26 mpg in mixed highway-heavy driving.
Which 2015 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?
The 2015 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, and Limited.
Here's the short version:
- LE: This is the simplest way into the RAV4 lineup, so it makes sense if you want the core space, efficiency, and everyday usefulness without paying for extras you may not need.
- XLE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience while staying below the top trim’s price and feature jump.
- Limited: Choose this if you want the most upscale version and specifically want access to the optional Technology Package with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning.
The safety-package trim note is simple: the most desirable active safety features are reserved for the Limited trim with the optional Technology Package.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Toyota RAV4?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep discounts everywhere.
- Deal availability: 26.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,009 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 1.98% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 53.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $13,936.17, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Toyota RAV4's resale value?
The current average of $14,902 sits slightly above last year's $14,614.
That upward move suggests the market still sees steady demand for this model year. For you as a future seller, that is a helpful sign because a stable or rising price trend usually makes it easier to hold value. The RAV4’s practical reputation and strong owner satisfaction should also help keep buyer interest healthy.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Toyota RAV4 safe?
It earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with a three-star protection rating for the front passenger in the frontal-impact assessment.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Every version gets a rear-view camera, which helps with reversing. If you want blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning, you need the optional Technology Package on the Limited trim. Active cruise control and active braking are unavailable, and Safety Connect is missing altogether.
The main caveat is that the NHTSA frontal-impact result is weaker for the front passenger, so you should pay close attention to crash history and overall condition when shopping used.
Should I buy a 2015 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 26.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 53.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 1.98% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Improved crash-test ratings help lift this year’s standing.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $13,674, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $14,902 average.
- It is a practical crossover with class-leading space and cargo capacity.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2015 is the better primary choice because it combines solid value, strong owner satisfaction, and improved safety standing. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the better budget path, especially if you find a clean example with the right equipment.
