How much does the 2015 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices are up 5.76% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 742 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2015 Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.7/5 user rating, and the expert rating is 7.3/10. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its excellent fuel economy, spacious interior, comfort, smooth ride, and Toyota's reliability. That lines up with the Prius’s practical, efficiency-first mission in the overview, where it’s framed as a strong choice for daily use and for buyers who want to save money on gas. With 33.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to find value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2015 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to Toyota's reliability, and it also emphasizes the Prius’s excellent fuel economy, comfort, and smooth ride. The expert cost-effectiveness notes add that Toyota includes free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical drama and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been worn down by age and mileage.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota Prius?

At 49.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in any collision. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and whether the cabin and electronics still feel well cared for, since the Prius’s appeal depends heavily on everyday usability. If you’re comparing multiple listings, give extra weight to cars with cleaner histories and evidence of consistent upkeep.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Prius is sold in Two, Three, Four, and Five trims, and the higher trims add more technology and convenience. The Three and Persona Series get navigation, Entune App Suite technology, and expanded Smart Key functionality, while the Four can be optioned with a Deluxe Solar Roof Package that adds a heads-up display, premium audio, upgraded navigation, and Toyota’s Safety Connect service. The Five adds exclusive LED headlights as standard equipment, and the test vehicle also had the Advanced Technology Package. If you want the best balance of equipment and value, the Four is the trim to study closely.
• Powertrain: The Prius uses a 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder engine with an electric drive motor for a total of 134 hp. It can run on electricity alone at low speeds for short distances, and it uses a continuously variable automatic transmission with Normal, Eco, Power, and EV driving modes. The setup is tuned for efficiency first, not quick acceleration.
• Safety package: The Advanced Technology Package adds lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and pre-collision warning and braking. Safety Connect is available only on the Four and Five, and it includes automatic collision notification and emergency assistance services. A blind-spot warning system is not offered.
• Infotainment: The Prius offers Entune App Suite technology, and higher trims add navigation and expanded Smart Key functionality. The Deluxe Solar Roof Package can bring a heads-up display, premium audio, upgraded navigation, and Safety Connect. The test vehicle also had advanced voice-recognition technology and a hard-drive navigation system.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test drive notes an EPA estimate of 51 mpg city/48 highway/50 combined, and the test vehicle returned 41.3 mpg during a week of driving.

Which 2015 Toyota Prius trim should I buy?

The 2015 Toyota Prius is offered in 4 trim levels: Two, Three, Four, and Five.

Here's the short version:

• Two: This is the simplest way into the Prius lineup, so it makes sense if you mainly want the hybrid basics and the lowest entry point. It gives you the core Prius efficiency story without the extra technology and convenience features found higher up.
• Three: This trim adds navigation, Entune App Suite technology, and expanded Smart Key functionality, making it a stronger everyday choice if you want more convenience without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Four: This is the best-value trim to focus on because it can be optioned with the Deluxe Solar Roof Package, which adds a heads-up display, premium audio, upgraded navigation, and Safety Connect. It gives you a more complete feature set without going all the way to the top trim.
• Five: This is the most feature-rich version, with exclusive LED headlights as standard equipment and access to the Advanced Technology Package. Choose it if you want the most equipment and are willing to pay for it.

Safety Connect is restricted to the Four and Five, and the Advanced Technology Package adds lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and pre-collision warning and braking.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Toyota Prius?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 742 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 5.76% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 49.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,382, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $12,584 sits slightly above last year's $11,898.

That upward move suggests the Prius has held enough buyer interest to support pricing, even as it ages. For a future seller, that means a clean, well-maintained example should still attract attention, especially if it has strong service history and a tidy accident record. The model’s efficiency-first reputation helps keep demand steady among shoppers who care most about running costs.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Toyota Prius safe?

The 2015 Prius earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick commendation from IIHS.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota’s Safety Connect system is available only on the Four and Five trims, and it includes automatic collision notification and emergency assistance services. The Advanced Technology Package adds lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and pre-collision warning and braking. A blind-spot warning system is not offered, which is a notable omission for shoppers who want the most comprehensive driver-assistance coverage.

Should I buy a 2015 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 5.76% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert summary: It remains a practical, fuel-saving daily driver with utility and comfort.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $15,238, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $12,584 average.
• It enters a new generation with many familiar hallmarks and a few new tricks.

The 2015 is the better pick if you want the lower purchase price and a proven formula. If you’re willing to spend more for the next model year’s redesign, the 2016 is the better path; otherwise, the 2015 gives you the core Prius experience at a more approachable price.
