Used 2015 Toyota 4Runner for Sale nearTacoma, WA

How much does the 2015 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 2.91% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,078 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2015 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Generally — the 2015 Toyota 4Runner earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its smooth ride, comfortable seating, and strong reliability, and they also value its off-road capability and handy rear window. That lines up with the 4Runner’s rugged, body-on-frame setup and its appeal to buyers who want capability and utility over everyday polish. It is especially well suited to you if you want a serious SUV for rough terrain and cargo-hauling rather than a soft crossover for routine family duty.

The market shows 34.0% good or great deals, so there are still some attractive listings to pursue.

Is the 2015 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to strong reliability, and owners also describe it as long-lasting and dependable. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by noting impressive reliability ratings and a value proposition that holds up over time. You also get free maintenance for the first two years or 25,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a rugged SUV can hide wear from hard use, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota 4Runner?

At 56.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, suspension, and undercarriage. Because this SUV is often used for tougher driving, condition matters as much as mileage. Focus on signs of off-road wear, uneven tire wear, and any evidence of poor repairs or neglected maintenance.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR5 is the entry point and comes with rear-wheel drive, while the Trail adds standard 4WD, a locking rear differential, selectable driving modes, Crawl Control, and Downhill Assist Control. The Limited adds leather seats, ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 15-speaker JBL audio system, keyless entry with push-button start, front and rear parking sensors, and Safety Connect. The Trail is the best-value choice if you want the strongest trail hardware without stepping all the way up to the Limited.
• Powertrain: The 4Runner uses a 4.0-liter V6 with 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. It is described as adequate rather than quick, and fuel economy is not a strength.
• Safety package: Every 4Runner gets a standard reversing camera and Hill Start Assist Control, while 4WD models also get Active Traction Control and Downhill Assist Control. Safety Connect is reserved for the Limited, and the model lacks some of the latest active safety features.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes a 6.1-inch touchscreen, navigation, upgraded stereo speakers, Entune App Suite smartphone connectivity, predictive traffic and weather features, and a USB 2.0 port. The larger 7-inch screen is exclusive to the Limited.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation says the EPA estimates 18 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle returned 16.8 mpg.

Which 2015 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2015 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 4 trim levels: SR5, Trail, TRD Pro, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the starting point, but it is the least compelling choice because it comes with rear-wheel drive, which undercuts the 4Runner’s core appeal. It makes sense only if you want the lowest entry price and plan to add the optional Premium Package for more comfort and tech.
• Trail: This is the best-value trim if you want the 4Runner’s off-road hardware without paying for luxury extras. Standard 4WD, a locking rear differential, Crawl Control, Multi-terrain Select, and Downhill Assist Control make it the most capability-focused choice for serious trail use.
• TRD Pro: This is the most specialized off-road version, with TRD Bilstein shocks, rear remote reservoirs, TRD front springs, a TRD aluminum skid plate, and off-road tires. Choose it if you want the most aggressive factory setup and don’t mind giving up some everyday polish.
• Limited: This is the comfort-oriented pick, with leather, ventilated front seats, a premium JBL audio system, push-button start, parking sensors, and Safety Connect. It suits you best if you want the most upscale 4Runner experience and spend more time on pavement than on trails.

Safety Connect is available only on the Limited, and the model overall still lacks many modern active safety features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Toyota 4Runner?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,078 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.91% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,381, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $21,504 sits slightly below last year's $22,148.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more selectively now. For a future seller, the current trend implies less immediate upside than before, but it also shows the model is still holding a meaningful share of its value. The 4Runner’s reputation for reliability and strong owner satisfaction should continue to support demand.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Toyota 4Runner safe?

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

The 4Runner offers a standard reversing camera, Hill Start Assist Control, and 4WD-related aids such as Active Traction Control and Downhill Assist Control on equipped models. Safety Connect is available only on the Limited, and the model lacks several modern active safety features. The expert evaluation also flags its crash-test and rollover-resistance ratings as a concern, which is especially relevant given its high center of gravity.

Should I buy a 2015 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It delivers serious off-road capability with strong cargo utility, but it is not a great family hauler.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $20,274, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $21,504 average.
• It keeps the traditional rugged SUV formula while balancing off-road strength with comfortable daily driving.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $23,869, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $21,504 average.
• It adds useful upgrades like cell-phone navigation and more towing capacity.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of capability and current-market value, the 2015 is the primary path. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2014 is the better budget play, while the 2016 makes sense if you want the newer-year upgrades and can pay more.

How does the 2015 Toyota 4Runner compare to the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Our experts score the 2015 Toyota 4Runner 7.3/10 and the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee 8.7/10. The 4Runner is the more rugged, trail-focused choice, while the Grand Cherokee offers stronger overall performance and a lower average used price. You also get more listings to shop in the Grand Cherokee market, but the 4Runner’s higher deal share and stronger accident-free share make it appealing if you want a tougher SUV with better value discipline.
