CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Subaru WRX

Summary
With 330 currently listed for sale and an average price of $13,582, 32.1% of 2015 Subaru WRXs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Subaru WRX 5 / 5 stars.
53.6% of 2015 WRX models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Subaru WRX stands out as a redesigned, rally-inspired sport compact that kept standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive while moving to a new platform with more interior space, better fuel efficiency, and a stiffer chassis. It also shed the Impreza name and became simply the WRX, which helped give the car a more distinct identity. Under the hood, it used a 2.0-liter turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine rated at 268 hp and 258 lb-ft, paired with a six-speed manual or an available CVT, so it remained focused on performance while broadening its appeal to buyers who wanted an automatic.
This model year also brought a more mature cabin than earlier WRX versions. The 2015 Subaru WRX was offered in Base, WRX Premium, and WRX Limited trims, with cloth upholstery in the lower trims and a leather interior in the Limited. All models included cruise control, but advanced tech such as adaptive cruise control was not available. Owners commonly praise the car’s performance, power, value, and handling, though some note a slight lag in the automatic transmission. That mix of strong driving character, everyday usability, and a few clear compromises is a big part of what makes the 2015 WRX distinctive.

This car is pretty awesome!! Of course its not the sti! But love the features, power, and comfortable. I bought the automatic so there is a 2 second lag when you punch it! But you have a manual option with the paddle shifters on the steering wheel that accommodates that! Other than that this car is very fast has I mode, for when your doing your every day driving, S mode is when you need a little bit more power to over pass a car in the freeway, and # S mode is when your ready to race or need that extra power switches from 6grs to 8grs. If your looking for more power and more tuning options get the Sti. Over all im happy with the wrx . Nothing really compares to it as far as power and torque! And what modifications you can do it!

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Subaru WRX?
At 53.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report on any promising listing and pay close attention to prior damage, title issues, and repair quality. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of uneven wear or poor repairs.
Because this model is performance-oriented, you should also judge how the car was used and maintained, not just how it looks in photos.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Subaru WRX?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 338 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.29% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 53.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $13,248, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Subaru WRX's resale value?
The current average of $13,524 sits slightly below last year's $13,984.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can make the car easier to buy now but may also limit short-term upside for a future seller. If you plan to resell later, condition and maintenance history will matter a lot because buyers tend to pay more for cleaner, better-documented examples.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2015 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 53.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.29% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $14,352, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $13,524 average.
- It adds a more comfortable commuter feel with a serious wild side.
The bottom line: If you want the lower entry price and strong owner satisfaction, the 2015 is the better starting point. If you're willing to spend more for the next model year, the 2016 is the better secondary path for buyers who want a slightly more polished everyday experience.
