Yes — the 2015 Subaru Legacy earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

The expert review also describes the Legacy as a cost-effective choice with favorable ownership costs, and it notes that major rating organizations expect the model to serve owners well over time. Subaru’s standard all-wheel drive and smooth, confidence-inspiring power delivery further support the impression of a car you can count on.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Subaru Legacy?

At 59.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a prior collision. Focus on body condition, repair quality, and whether the equipment on the car matches the trim you expect. Because this model was offered with a range of comfort and safety features, it’s worth confirming that the specific listing includes the equipment you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base 2.5i models include a rear-view camera, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, smartphone integration, and a 60/40-split folding rear seat, while Premium adds dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and an 8-way power driver’s seat. Limited trims add leather upholstery, heated rear seats, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, while the 3.6R Limited adds a more powerful 6-cylinder engine and Xenon headlamps.
• Powertrain: The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine makes 175 hp and is paired with a Lineartronic CVT that includes a 6-speed manual mode and paddle shifters. Subaru’s Active Torque Split AWD system with Active Torque Vectoring is standard, and the setup is tuned more for comfort and stability than excitement.
• Safety package: Subaru’s EyeSight system includes adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on Limited models and optional on Premium models.
• Infotainment: Starlink uses a 7-inch color touchscreen and includes Bluetooth hands-free calling and music streaming, HD Radio, satellite radio, and Internet radio apps. It also supports voice commands and offers a navigation system on equipped cars.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5-liter powertrain is rated at 26 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined.

Which 2015 Subaru Legacy trim should I buy?

The 2015 Subaru Legacy is offered in 4 trim levels: 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited, 3.6R Limited.

Here's the short version:

• 2.5i: This is the value play if you want the core Legacy formula at the lowest entry point. You still get the rear-view camera, Bluetooth, smartphone integration, and standard all-wheel drive, so it covers the essentials well.
• 2.5i Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a power driver’s seat without jumping all the way to the pricier Limited. If you want more comfort for daily use, this is the sweet spot.
• 2.5i Limited: This is the right choice if you want the most complete 4-cylinder version. Leather, heated rear seats, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and the Harman Kardon audio system make it feel more upscale.
• 3.6R Limited: Choose this if you want the stronger 6-cylinder engine and the extra equipment that comes with the top powertrain. It’s the trim for buyers who want the most power in the lineup.

Limited models include blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while Premium models can add those features as options.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Subaru Legacy?

The market looks moderate and selective, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 483 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,081, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Subaru Legacy's resale value?

The current average of $10,605 sits slightly above last year's $10,561.

That small increase suggests the Legacy has held value fairly steadily rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of stability is helpful because it points to a market that is still willing to pay around current levels for the right car. Listings with strong condition, clean history, and desirable equipment should be easier to position competitively.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Subaru Legacy safe?

The 2015 Subaru Legacy earns Top Safety Pick recognition from the IIHS, and Subaru says the model has historically ranked highly in crash safety.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight suite includes adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on Limited models and optional on Premium models, so lower trims may leave you without some of the most useful driver-assistance features. The review also notes that EyeSight was upgraded with new cameras and smoother operation for 2015.

Should I buy a 2015 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Subaru’s redesigned cabin, standard AWD, and upgraded EyeSight make this year feel more polished and confidence-inspiring.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $8,798, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $10,605 average.
• It’s a practical family sedan with strong value, comfort, safety, and winter-weather capability.

The bottom line: If you want the more refined, better-equipped Legacy with a steadier market profile, the 2015 is the better pick. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable giving up some of the newer polish and features, the 2014 is the smarter budget alternative.
