How much does the 2015 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices are up 3.52% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,401 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2015 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Mazda CX-5 earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its good looks, comfort, strong performance, fuel economy, and handling. That lines up with the CX-5’s appeal as a compact crossover that feels more engaging to drive than many rivals, even if it gives up some practicality in the process.

The market still reflects that appeal, with 33.0% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2015 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability-minded strengths such as strong performance, good fuel economy, and a generally satisfying ownership experience. The expert evaluation also describes the CX-5 as a smart financial choice, with quality and reliability both called out as positives.

The ownership picture is still worth weighing carefully on the used market, since some shoppers have noted cost and practicality tradeoffs that can affect long-term satisfaction.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Mazda CX-5?

At 56.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle’s equipment and features work as expected. Because some owners mention cargo-space and option-related compromises, it also makes sense to check whether the specific car you’re considering has the features you want without pushing the price beyond your comfort zone.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CX-5 is offered in three trim levels: Sport, Touring and Grand Touring. The Sport starts with a 6-speed manual transmission and lacks Bluetooth unless you add the bargain-priced package, while Touring adds a peppier engine, a standard automatic, keyless entry, push-button ignition, a blind-spot warning system, and a 5.8-inch touchscreen with a reversing camera. Grand Touring adds leather upholstery, heated front seats and side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power sunroof, and a premium audio system.
• Powertrain: Touring and Grand Touring versions use a 184-hp, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, and all-wheel drive is optional. The CX-5 is tuned to be responsive and enjoyable rather than especially quick, and the automatic transmission shifts swiftly and smoothly.
• Safety package: Touring includes E911 emergency services connectivity and a blind-spot monitoring system, while Grand Touring adds rain-sensing windshield wipers. The available Technology Package adds Smart City Brake Support and adaptive bi-Xenon headlights, but rear cross-traffic alert is not offered.
• Infotainment: The available Bluetooth Audio Package centers on a 5.8-inch touchscreen and includes Bluetooth calling and music streaming, HD Radio, satellite radio, text-messaging support, Pandora Internet radio, E911 emergency services connectivity, USB connectivity, and a reversing camera. A navigation system is optional.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says the front-wheel-drive Grand Touring should return 27 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2015 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2015 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 3 trim levels: Sport, Touring and Grand Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, but it’s the most stripped-down choice. You get the basics and a standard 6-speed manual, yet Bluetooth requires an extra package, so this trim makes the most sense only if you want the lowest starting point and are comfortable adding equipment later.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the peppier engine, a standard automatic, keyless entry, push-button ignition, a blind-spot warning system, upgraded audio, and the 5.8-inch touchscreen with a reversing camera. It gives you the most useful everyday upgrades without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Grand Touring: This is the right pick if you want the most comfort and convenience features, including leather upholstery, heated front seats and side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power sunroof, and a premium audio system.

The available Technology Package adds Smart City Brake Support and adaptive bi-Xenon headlights on Touring and Grand Touring models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,401 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.52% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 56.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,231, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $12,197 sits slightly above last year's $11,782.

That upward move suggests the CX-5 has held buyer interest well enough to support pricing. For a future seller, that’s a positive sign: a model with steady demand and a relatively strong market position is usually easier to move without heavy discounting.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2015 Mazda CX-5 earns a 5-star overall crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), while the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has given it a Top Safety Pick designation.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Touring models include E911 emergency services connectivity and a blind-spot monitoring system, while Grand Touring adds rain-sensing windshield wipers. The available Technology Package adds Smart City Brake Support, which can automatically apply the brakes if it detects a car or pedestrian ahead, along with adaptive bi-Xenon headlights.

One important caveat is that rear cross-traffic alert is not offered.

Should I buy a 2015 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.52% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 CX-5 is praised for being genuinely enjoyable to drive, but it also needs improvements in functionality to better compete with some of the more popular compact crossovers.

The bottom line: If you want a used compact crossover that feels more engaging than most, the 2015 CX-5 is the better path. If your priority is maximum practicality and you want to shop more aggressively on price, you may want to compare it carefully with nearby alternatives before deciding.

How does the 2015 Mazda CX-5 compare to the 2015 Honda CR-V?

Our experts score the 2015 Mazda CX-5 7/10 and the 2015 Honda CR-V 8.5/10.

The CX-5 is the more engaging choice, with stronger driver appeal and a lower average used price. The CR-V counters with more power, a slightly better city fuel-economy figure, more listings to shop from, and a stronger overall expert score. If you care most about driving enjoyment and value, the CX-5 has the edge; if you want the more practical all-around pick, the CR-V is the safer bet.
