Why it stands out
The 2015 Kia Soul stands out by turning a boxy, unconventional shape into something genuinely appealing rather than merely practical. It offers the kind of everyday usefulness most people need, along with a few surprise-and-delight touches that make it feel more special than its size and price might suggest. That combination of personality and value is a big part of its appeal, especially for buyers who want a small car that does not blend into the crowd.
At the same time, the 2015 Kia Soul is not presented as perfect. More power would be welcome, and additional trunk space would help, along with a couple of extra safety features. Even so, those shortcomings are framed as relatively minor against a car that is described as terrific, well equipped, and strong on technology, safety ratings, and quality. Owners also tend to praise its spacious interior, comfort, value for money, good fuel economy, and fun driving experience, which reinforces the Soul’s reputation as a practical choice with an unusually upbeat character.

Super smooth ride, responsive steering, seats great for back problems, large interior and cool edgy look! I purchased the 2015 Kia Soul + and so far the only down sides are rear passenger side blind spot, and not quick to accelerate. Best purchase Ive ever made! Truly an amazing car!

How much does the 2015 Kia Soul cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $7,900 |
| Year-Round Low | $7,623 |
| Year-Round High | $8,369 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $8,081 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −2.23% |
Prices have softened 2.23% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,189 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2015 Kia Soul a good car?
Generally — you’re looking at a 4.36/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating, which puts this model year in strong territory overall. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.
Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, comfort, value for money, good fuel economy, and fun driving experience. That lines up with the Soul’s use case as a small, personality-filled daily driver that gives you more practicality and character than its size and price might suggest.
With 28.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still leaves room for you to find a compelling example.
Is the 2015 Kia Soul reliable?
Owners rate it 4.36/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with repeated praise for the Soul’s spacious cabin, comfort, value, and good fuel economy. The expert notes also emphasize that the Soul is built to be a useful, everyday vehicle with strong value and quality.
The cost-effectiveness commentary adds that Kia’s warranty and roadside assistance support the ownership experience, and it also highlights a favorable depreciation outlook. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a neglected example with missing features or uneven maintenance history.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Kia Soul?
At 55.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s equipment and features match the trim you expect.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The loaded test vehicle shows how much the Soul can gain with options, including leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, premium audio, LED interior lighting, HID headlights, LED running lights, Smart Key entry, push-button start, heated front and rear seats, and ventilated front seats. The base car is described as stripped-down, so feature gaps can be significant.
- Powertrain: The Soul uses a 164-hp, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. It is described as lively around town, but more power would still be welcome.

Which 2015 Kia Soul trim should I buy?
The 2015 Kia Soul is offered in 1 trim level: !.
Here's the short version:
The ! is the standout choice if you want the Soul at its most expressive and feature-rich, since the test vehicle shows how much equipment this trim can carry. It suits you best if you care about personality, comfort, and a well-equipped cabin more than keeping the purchase as basic as possible.
The safety-package note is simple: you get useful connected safety features and a reversing camera, but not the full set of modern active driver aids.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Kia Soul?
This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,189 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.23% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 55.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $7,623, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Kia Soul's resale value?
The current average of $7,900 sits slightly below last year's $8,081.
That softer pricing suggests the Soul has already moved through some of its near-term depreciation. If you buy at the right price, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it’s time to sell.
The model’s strong value reputation and broad appeal should help keep demand steady among shoppers who want a practical, distinctive small car. A well-kept example with good equipment and a clean history should be easier to resell than one with visible wear or accident history.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.36/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Kia Soul safe?
The 2015 Kia Soul earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
The Soul includes 911 Connect through UVO eServices, along with Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, Geo Fence, and Driving Score features. Those tools can be especially helpful if you’re shopping for a teen driver or want extra peace of mind from connected safety tech.
The main caveat is that the Soul lacks modern active safety features such as blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, so you should not assume every safety convenience is built in.
Should I buy a 2015 Kia Soul or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 55.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.23% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.36/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- Expert or safety highlight specific to this year: it combines strong value, a 9/10 safety score, and useful connected safety features.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $7,098, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $7,900 average.
- It stands out as a compact hatch that blends everyday usefulness with a distinctive personality.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2015 is the better target because it pairs solid pricing with strong owner satisfaction, good safety, and useful tech. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Soul’s core appeal.
