CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Jeep Wrangler
overall

Summary
With 305 currently listed for sale near Los Angeles, CA and an average price of $16,726.00, 15.1% of 2015 Jeep Wranglers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Jeep Wrangler 4.47 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.5 / 10.
70.2% of 2015 Wrangler models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Jeep Wrangler stands out for staying true to its rugged identity while still adding a few fresh touches. It is described as continuing the tradition of being the most capable SUV in the solar system, and it also brings an upgraded sound system and a fresh set of editions to choose from. That combination gives it some added appeal for buyers who want a vehicle with a long-established personality but a little more variety than before.
Its biggest draw remains off-road performance, especially in Rubicon editions, which are described as offering uncompromising performance off road. Owner feedback reinforces that appeal, with praise for the Wrangler’s ruggedness, off-road capability, and the fun of driving it. The same feedback also highlights the removable tops and doors and the vehicle’s unique look, which help explain why it has such a devoted following.
At the same time, the Wrangler is not trying to be a polished all-purpose SUV. Owners noted concerns about rear seat safety, rust issues, and smaller cargo space compared with larger models, and some mentioned discomfort from the vehicle’s stiffness and fuel economy being affected by larger tires. Those tradeoffs are part of what makes the 2015 Jeep Wrangler distinctive: it prioritizes character and capability over comfort and practicality.

Im very happy with my purchase! I wanted a rubicon, more for the offroad abilities it has,and found this unlimited rubicon, which has way more creature comforts than i was looking for,and now very happy with! Its really more of an offroad vehicle to be honest. Its a little stiff, and the off road tires humm as you go down the road! And with bigger tires gets truck like fuel milage! With that said,im happy i bought it,its fun to drive, and allows me to play offroad and then drive to work everyday!! Its a win in my book anyday!

If you find a listing below $16,567.70, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2015 Jeep Wrangler a good car?
Generally — the 2015 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.47/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.
Owners consistently praise its ruggedness, off-road capability, and the fun of driving it. The removable tops and doors also come up often, along with the Wrangler’s unique look, which helps explain its devoted following.
That lines up with the overview: you’re looking at a vehicle that prioritizes character and capability over comfort and practicality. If you want a distinctive SUV with real off-road personality, it fits that use case well. The market also shows 30.6% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Jeep Wrangler reliable?
Owners rate it 4.47/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to ruggedness and a trouble-free ownership experience for many buyers, with the Wrangler’s durable personality and long-term appeal coming through clearly. The expert drive notes also emphasize that the 3.6-liter V6 is a meaningful improvement over older powerplants, which supports the sense that this generation is more dependable than earlier versions.
The cost-effectiveness notes add that the model’s newer V6 and special editions give shoppers reasons to consider it over older secondhand examples. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core concept and more about how hard the vehicle has been used and modified.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Jeep Wrangler?
At 63.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection, especially if the Wrangler has been modified or used off road. Pay close attention to body condition, signs of rust, and any evidence of hard use, since those issues can matter more here than on a typical SUV. It’s also worth checking the interior and cargo area carefully, because this model’s practicality tradeoffs can show up in wear and tear.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Sport starts with 16-inch steel wheels, while the Sport S adds 17-inch wheels and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Sahara adds larger 18-inch wheels and can be fitted with optional leather, while the Rubicon trims bring the most off-road hardware.
- Powertrain: You get a 3.6-liter V6 with 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, plus a 6-speed manual transmission. A 5-speed automatic is available, and fuel economy is 17 mpg city and 21 highway.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes antilock disc brakes on all four wheels, electronic stability control, and traction control. Frontal-collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning indicators aren’t available, and supplemental front airbags are a $495 option.
- Infotainment: This year brings an upgraded sound system and an available 9-speaker Alpine setup. The Wrangler can also be fitted with navigation.
- Fuel efficiency: The Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited manage 17 mpg city and 21 highway, according to the EPA.
Which 2015 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?
The 2015 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 3 trim levels: Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The Sport is the most stripped-down choice, with 16-inch steel wheels and fewer creature comforts than the higher trims.
- Sweet-spot trim: The Sahara is the best balance if you want more comfort, since it adds larger 18-inch wheels and can be fitted with optional leather.
- Premium/top trim: The Rubicon is the one to choose if off-road ability matters most, since it adds heavy-duty skid plates, a heavy-duty transfer case, disconnecting sway bars, and Dana 44 axles front and rear.
The safety package note is simple: the Wrangler does not offer frontal-collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, or lane-departure warning indicators.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Jeep Wrangler?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to shop carefully and compare condition closely.
- Deal availability: 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 4,702 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.23% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 63.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $16,567.70, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?
The current average of $16,674 sits slightly below last year's $17,973.
That softer pricing suggests the market has become a little more buyer-friendly, which can make it harder for a future seller to command a premium unless the vehicle is especially clean or well equipped. If you buy smart now, you may benefit from that lower entry point, but resale will still depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how much the Wrangler has been modified.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.47/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Jeep Wrangler safe?
The Wrangler received a Moderate rating in small-overlap front collisions and head restraints and seats, a Poor rating in side collisions, and a Good rating in moderate-overlap front collisions. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Wrangler only three stars in a rollover crash.
It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.
The Wrangler’s safety equipment is limited by its age and boxy design. Standard antilock disc brakes, electronic stability control, and traction control are included, but more modern driver-assistance features like frontal-collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning indicators aren’t available. Supplemental front airbags are a $495 option as well.
Should I buy a 2015 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 63.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.23% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.47/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It adds an upgraded sound system and fresh editions, including Rubicon variants with uncompromising off-road performance.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $15,725, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $16,674 average.
- It is a rugged, affordable off-road icon with uncompromised capability.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $17,731, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $16,674 average.
- It adds a convertible top and year-round 4WD with rugged standard equipment.
The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, personality, and available inventory, the 2015 is the primary path to consider. If your budget is tighter, the 2014 can save you money, while the 2016 is worth a look if you want to spend more for a slightly newer take on the same formula.
