How much does the 2015 Hyundai Sonata cost?

Is the 2015 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Hyundai Sonata earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, good value, gas mileage, spacious interior, and quality sound system. That lines up with the Sonata’s overview as a practical midsize sedan that feels more polished than basic, especially if you want an easy-to-live-with family car rather than something flashy. The market also shows 28.7% of listings as good or great deals, which adds to its appeal if you’re shopping carefully.

Is the 2015 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, comfort, and a trouble-free ownership experience, while also emphasizing good value and everyday usability. Expert impressions reinforce that sense of dependability by describing the Sonata as a well-rounded, thoughtfully engineered sedan with low predicted long-term ownership costs. Hyundai’s free Blue Link subscriptions and warranty coverage also help ownership feel more reassuring.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that condition and maintenance history matter more than the badge, so a careful inspection is still important.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Hyundai Sonata?

At 54.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had prior bodywork or higher mileage. Focus on signs of uneven wear, repair quality, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re considering. Because the Sonata was offered with several equipment levels, it’s worth confirming the exact feature set before you commit.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE is well equipped, while the Eco adds a more fuel-efficient powertrain, chrome grille, automatic headlights, turn-signal indicators on the outside mirrors, nicer interior materials, an 8-way power driver’s seat, and a 5-inch color touchscreen with Blue Link telematics and a reversing camera. The Sport adds much of the Eco model’s features plus 17-inch wheels, sportier design cues, heated front seats, and a hands-free Smart Trunk system. The Limited adds leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear air vents, a 6-way power front passenger’s seat, heated rear seats, manual rear side-window sunshades, an upgraded audio system, passive keyless entry with push-button start, and active safety systems. The Sport 2.0T trades some comfort features for a stronger turbocharged engine, 18-inch wheels, HID headlights, a tauter suspension, sport-bolstered front seats, a sport-design steering wheel with paddle shifters, and four chrome exhaust tips.
• Powertrain: The main engine is a 185-hp, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Eco version is tuned for better fuel economy, while the Sport 2.0T uses a turbocharged powerplant with 60 extra hp.
• Safety package: The Sonata includes a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert and lane-change assist on the Limited. A lane-departure warning system and adaptive cruise control with forward-collision warning are available, and the safety systems are described as working smoothly and seamlessly.
• Infotainment: Blue Link smartphone connectivity is standard on every version except the SE, where it is optional with the Popular Equipment package. The Sonata is also available with a premium sound system and navigation system operated through a large 8-inch color touchscreen with clear graphics and responsive virtual buttons.
• Fuel efficiency: The Eco version delivers an average of 32 mpg in combined driving, and the 2.4-liter test car is rated at 29 mpg combined.

Which 2015 Hyundai Sonata trim should I buy?

The 2015 Hyundai Sonata is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, Eco, Sport, Limited, Sport 2.0T.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the simplest starting point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Sonata lineup and plan to add equipment only if needed.
• Eco: This is the best-value trim if fuel economy matters most, since it adds the more efficient powertrain along with useful comfort and tech upgrades like Blue Link, a reversing camera, and an 8-way power driver’s seat.
• Sport: Choose this if you want a little more style and convenience than the Eco, including 17-inch wheels, heated front seats, and the Smart Trunk system.
• Limited: This is the most upscale mainstream choice, with leather, dual-zone climate control, heated rear seats, upgraded audio, keyless entry, and the available driver-assistance features that make it feel closest to a near-luxury sedan.
• Sport 2.0T: Pick this if you want the strongest performance and a firmer, more athletic setup, but it gives up some comfort features found on the Limited.

The Limited is the best all-around pick if you want the richest feature set, while the Eco is the value choice for efficiency-minded shoppers. The Limited also brings the key safety-package features, including blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and lane-change assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,155 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.87% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 54.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,802, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $8,884 sits slightly below last year's $9,438.

That softer pricing suggests the Sonata is still a value-oriented used buy, but it also means future sellers may not see rapid appreciation. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you can help protect your exit price later. The current market also shows enough inventory and deal activity to keep pricing competitive.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Hyundai Sonata safe?

The 2015 Hyundai Sonata earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sonata’s standard blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert and lane-change assist adds useful everyday protection on the Limited. Available safety tech also includes lane-departure warning and adaptive cruise control with forward-collision warning. Those systems are described as smooth and unobtrusive, which makes them easier to live with day to day.

Should I buy a 2015 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert testing says Hyundai refined, retuned, and reworked the Sonata to be better than ever, even if it lost some standout styling.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $9,148, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $8,884 average.
• It is a thoroughly capable midsize sedan with strong overall competence and satisfying long-term ownership traits.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2015 is the stronger buy because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction and a broad feature set. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2016 is the safer choice for buyers who prioritize a more current used-car option over upfront savings.

How does the 2015 Hyundai Sonata compare to the 2015 Toyota Camry?

Our experts score the 2015 Hyundai Sonata 8.3/10 and the 2015 Toyota Camry 8.2/10.

The Sonata gives you more value on the used market, with a much lower average price and a stronger feature-rich feel for the money. The Camry has a slightly higher deal share and more listings, but it costs more on average. If you want the better bargain and a more upscale-feeling cabin, the Sonata has the edge; if you want a more expensive but still mainstream midsize sedan with broader market availability, the Camry is the alternative.
