Is the 2015 Dodge Charger a good car?

Generally — the 2015 Dodge Charger earns a 4.2/5 from owners and a 7.8/10 from experts. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Cost effectiveness.

Owners repeatedly praise the spacious interior, strong performance, and the V6’s smooth driving feel. The Charger’s aggressive styling also comes through as a recurring strength, and the car’s broad appeal fits shoppers who want a full-size sedan that still feels muscular and distinctive.

The expert evaluation also describes the Charger as a practical, manageable daily driver in V6 form, which supports the idea that it can be a sensible long-term choice when maintained well.

The cost-effectiveness notes also mention a predicted reliability rating of 2 out of 5 from J.D. Power, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition before committing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Dodge Charger?

At 47.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection matters here, especially if you are comparing cars with similar prices but very different condition histories. Focus on signs of uneven wear, incomplete repairs, and missing equipment that could affect day-to-day use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE uses 17-inch wheels, while the SXT steps up to 18-inch wheels and more features; higher trims add larger wheels and more aggressive equipment, so the base car is the one most likely to feel stripped down.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 292 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, pairs with an 8-speed automatic, and is the only engine offered with AWD this year.
• Safety package: Every Charger includes front and side curtain airbags, a driver knee airbag, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, pre-tensioning and height-adjusting seatbelts, and rear child-seat anchors; lane-departure warning, frontal-collision warning, and backup cameras are optional, and many active-safety features are spread across separate packages.
• Infotainment: UConnect is standard, with an optional 8.4-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch multifunction driver display; the larger screen is starting to show its age.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 returns 19 mpg city and 31 mpg highway with rear-wheel drive, or 18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway with AWD.

Which 2015 Dodge Charger trim should I buy?

The 2015 Dodge Charger is offered in 7 trim levels: SE, SXT, R/T, R/T Road & Track, R/T Scat Pack, SRT 392, Hellcat.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the Charger’s styling and size at the lowest cost, but it is also the trim most likely to feel basic compared with the rest of the lineup.
• SXT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more features than the SE while keeping the V6 powertrain and everyday-friendly character.
• R/T: This is the move if you want the V8 experience, since it brings the 5.7-liter Hemi and a more serious muscle-car feel.
• R/T Road & Track: Choose this if you want the R/T formula with a little more performance focus and a stronger enthusiast edge.
• R/T Scat Pack: This is the sweet spot for buyers who want serious speed, since it adds the 6.4-liter V8 and much stronger performance.
• SRT 392: This trim builds on the Scat Pack idea with bigger brakes, suspension tuning, and SRT-only interior packages.
• Hellcat: This is the extreme choice if you want the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 and the most outrageous performance in the lineup.

The safety package is spread across multiple option groups, so you should verify exactly which driver-assistance features are installed on any used example.

• Inventory: There are 784 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.74% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 47.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,421, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Dodge Charger's resale value?

The current average of $12,569 sits slightly below last year's $13,057.

That softer pricing suggests the Charger has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who paid closer to the model’s earlier average.

The current price range also shows that buyers still have a clear ceiling and floor to work with, which can support resale predictability. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Dodge Charger safe?

The Charger earns Good ratings from the IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Charger comes with front and side curtain airbags, a driver knee airbag, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, pre-tensioning and height-adjusting seatbelts, and rear child-seat anchors. Lane-departure warning, frontal-collision warning, and backup cameras are optional, and many of the active-safety features are bundled into separate packages that can raise the price significantly.

Should I buy a 2015 Dodge Charger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 24.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 47.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.74% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 refresh gives the Charger a sleeker front end and a more aggressive overall look.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $10,468, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $12,569 average.
• It pairs bold styling with a more sophisticated driving character.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $15,941, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $12,569 average.
• It adds a more satisfying family-sedan feel with stronger owner praise for comfort and value.

The bottom line: The 2015 is the right middle ground if you want the refreshed look and a strong mix of performance and value. If price is your top priority, the 2014 is the cheaper path; if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling ownership experience, the 2016 is the alternative to compare.

How does the 2015 Dodge Charger compare to the 2015 Chevrolet Impala?

Our experts score the 2015 Dodge Charger 7.8/10 and the 2015 Chevrolet Impala 7/10.

The Charger is the stronger pick if you want more personality, stronger performance, and a broader range of muscle-oriented trims. The Impala undercuts it on average used price and has a slightly better good-and-great-deal share, but the Charger offers the more dramatic driving experience and the more distinctive full-size-sedan identity.
