How much does the 2020 Dodge Charger cost?

Prices have softened 6.91% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,359 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Dodge Charger a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Dodge Charger earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, smooth ride and handling, and spacious, family-friendly cabin. The design also stands out, and the Charger’s comfort is a recurring strength in owner feedback.

The main trade-offs are that lower trims can feel underwhelming compared with the stronger versions, and some shoppers may want more luxury features. That fits a car aimed at you if you want a practical sedan with more attitude than most, rather than a purely sensible commuter.

With 26.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Dodge Charger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car you can count on for strong performance, comfort, and a generally trouble-free ownership experience. The expert evaluation also describes it as easy to live with and practical for everyday use, which supports the idea that it can serve well over the long term.

The Charger’s broad powertrain range means long-term ownership risk can vary by trim, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and how the car was used.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Dodge Charger?

At 55% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection matters here, especially if you’re considering a higher-performance version or a car with more miles. Focus on overall condition, signs of hard use, and whether the equipment on the car matches the trim you’re paying for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SXT comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, remote start, push-button start, power-adjustable front seats, rear parking sensors, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The GT adds 20-inch wheels, a more pronounced lower front spoiler, a rear trunk lip spoiler, a hood scoop, dual-zone climate control, a WiFi hot spot, HD radio, and an 8.4-inch screen. The Hellcat adds leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and blind-spot monitoring.
• Powertrain: The SXT and GT use a 3.6-liter V6, with 292 horsepower in the SXT and 300 horsepower in the GT. The R/T uses a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 with 370 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque, while the R/T Scat Pack uses a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. The Hellcat uses a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.
• Safety package: Available driver-assistance features include forward-collision avoidance with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. These features are not standard across the lineup.
• Infotainment: The Charger comes with a 7-inch touchscreen on the base trim and an 8.4-inch touchscreen on other trims. It includes standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The system also offers available HD radio, available satellite radio, and available navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The most efficient version returns 19 mpg city, 30 highway, 23 combined. Adding AWD lowers that to 18 mpg city, 27 highway, 21 combined. The R/T returns 16 mpg city, 25 highway, 19 combined, and the Hellcat Widebody returns 12 mpg city, 21 highway, 15 combined.

Which 2020 Dodge Charger trim should I buy?

The 2020 Dodge Charger is offered in 4 trim levels: SXT, GT, R/T, and Hellcat.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Charger’s core appeal at the lowest price. You get the roomy cabin, the standard 7-inch touchscreen, and the basic convenience features, so it makes sense if you want the look and space without paying for extra performance or appearance upgrades.
• GT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale feel with 20-inch wheels, a larger 8.4-inch screen, dual-zone climate control, a WiFi hot spot, HD radio, and more aggressive styling. If you want the most balanced mix of features and price, this is the one to focus on.
• R/T: This is the move if you want a V8 and a more serious performance character. It adds the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and performance-oriented hardware, making it the right choice if driving excitement matters more than keeping costs down.
• Hellcat: This is the top-end choice for you if you want maximum power and the most premium equipment in the lineup. It adds the biggest engine, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and blind-spot monitoring.

The safety-feature gaps matter most on lower trims, since many driver-assistance items are optional rather than standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Dodge Charger?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 26.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,359 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.91% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,698, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Dodge Charger's resale value?

The current average of $22,722 sits slightly below last year's $24,408.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can reduce the impact of that depreciation. Higher-demand trims and well-kept examples should hold value better than rougher, higher-mileage cars.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Dodge Charger safe?

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include a full array of front- and side-impact airbags, traction control, and rear parking sensors. Available driver-assistance features include forward-collision avoidance with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

A key caveat is that many of those advanced safety features are optional rather than standard, so you should verify exactly what equipment is on the car you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2020 Dodge Charger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 26.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines sedan practicality with a performance-focused personality and a wide powertrain range.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $26,238, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $22,722 average.
• It adds a new track-ready variant and pushes the Hellcat V8 further.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the smarter buy because prices are softer and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year update and a more extreme performance option, the 2021 is the secondary path.
