Is the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its value, comfort, performance, reliable handling, and stylish design. That lines up with the Silverado’s straightforward, practical setup and its appeal as a truck that can handle work duties while still fitting everyday use. The market also shows 29.5% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to reliable handling and a truck that many owners feel good about keeping. The expert evaluation also describes the Silverado’s powertrain as capable and notes that Chevrolet’s free scheduled maintenance adds value during ownership. At the same time, some buyers should keep an eye on reported mechanical concerns and remember that full-size trucks can carry meaningful long-term ownership costs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

At 61% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing, especially on trucks that may have been used for towing, hauling, or off-road driving. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and signs of wear that could point to harder use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Silverado’s trim and package mix can change the truck’s look and equipment substantially, and the base Work Truck is much more stripped down than higher trims. If you want a more upscale cabin or more visual polish, you’ll want to move up from the entry setup.
• Powertrain: The available 6.2-liter V8 adds power and towing strength, but it also costs more and uses more fuel. If you do not tow regularly, the 5.3-liter V8 is the more balanced choice.
• Safety package: The available Driver Alert Package adds lane-departure warning, forward-collision alert, front and rear parking-assist sensors, and a safety-alert seat. Blind-spot warning is not available.
• Infotainment: Chevrolet MyLink comes with either a 4.2-inch or 8-inch touchscreen, and the truck can be equipped with OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi, Siri Eyes Free, and text-messaging alerts.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation notes 16.1 mpg in testing, and the truck is described as delivering 17 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is offered in 4 trim levels: Work Truck, LT, LTZ, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• Work Truck: This is the most basic choice, and it makes sense if you want the lowest entry point and do not need extra comfort or appearance upgrades.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more everyday usability and a better balance of equipment without pushing you into luxury-truck pricing.
• LTZ: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel, more premium features, and a truck that leans harder into comfort and style.
• High Country: This is the top-end choice for buyers who want the most luxurious Silverado experience and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that the available Driver Alert Package adds useful driver-assistance features, but blind-spot warning is not offered.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare listings and enough deal activity to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,016 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.22% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,009, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $17,096 sits slightly below last year's $18,230.

That price movement suggests the Silverado has softened, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the truck in strong condition, you can reduce the impact of depreciation. For future sellers, the key is to avoid overpaying now, because the market has already moved lower.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 safe?

The 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA assessments except rollover resistance, where it gets a four-star rating with both 2WD and 4WD. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rates its moderate overlap frontal-impact performance as Good.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevrolet’s available Driver Alert Package adds lane-departure warning, forward-collision alert, front and rear parking-assist sensors, and a safety-alert seat. OnStar also provides Automatic Crash Response. A key caveat is that blind-spot warning is not available.

Should I buy a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 stands out for its straightforward, traditional truck formula and strong towing-focused appeal.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $15,201, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $17,096 average.
• It emphasizes understated confidence and everyday usefulness.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2015 if you want the stronger current-market mix of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the better budget path.
